Elle's POV

Saturday 15th September 2018

"Floor 3, Room 34A," I mumbled to myself as the elevator doors opened on floor 3, I wheeled the trolley of bags out of it and started heading down the hall, scanning the doors for room 34A. "Aha!" I smiled and pushed my key into the lock, twisting it open.

When I walked in I was expecting to find a large room with one single bed, seeing as I had requested a private room. However, I was met with a large room with two single beds - one on each side of the room and sat on one already was a girl. "Hi?" I squeaked and she pulled her earphones off, her whole face lighting up with excitement.

"Hey," she basically shrieked. "You must be my new roommate... Wait don't tell me, I remember the name!" She said, jumping off of the bed, her eyes looking around the room as she tried to remember my name.

"It's Elena, but everyone calls me Elle," I half-heartedly laughed and she snapped her fingers, nodding.

"That's it! I knew it," she said and then came over to me to wrap her arms around me. "Sorry, I'm a little bit excited. This is my sophomore year, and in my freshman year I had this bitch roommate who always smoked and brought home guys, I'm just happy to be away from her and have someone new!"

I smiled and nodded. "Sorry, I'm a little confused... I was expecting a private dorm?" I shrugged, looking around.

The girl cocked her head slightly. "They probably fucked up the roomings, but honestly it's way better having a roommate than being alone. And the fact that I'm great," she winked and I found my anxiety lifting a little bit and I laughed. She seemed lovely and I was slightly glad I'd have a friend here.

"I guess, and I'm so glad to have met someone already," I grinned happily.

"Definitely! I'm Delilah, by the way, but call me whatever you want," she said, walking back over to her side of the room to collapse down on the bed.

I took my time to look at Delilah and get a feel for her - she was a petite girl, maybe five foot two with dark skin and black hair that she had pulled back into tight braids, she was dressed in some simple acid wash jeans and a cropped knitted jumper.

"Well Elle, I am meeting up with some friends in ten minutes. Do you want to come?" She asked and I shook my head.

"I have loads of unpacking to do, but thank you," I said, dragging my stuff further into the room closer to my side.

"Totally get it! If you're free later, a sorority is hosting a welcome party and you could come with me and my friends if you want to?" She suggested, watching as I unzipped my first bag that I had plonked on my bed.

I wasn't much of a partier, but it seemed right to go and get to know everyone. "Uh, yeah sure... What time is it?" I asked her.

"I'll be home at about seven later to get ready with you?" She asked, pushing herself off of her bed so she could slip on some Vans and grab her bag from one of the pegs on the back of the wooden door.

 "Sounds good."

"Great, I'll see you later!" She said as she pulled open the dorm room door again.

"See you later," I waved her off and pulled my trolley of bags further into the room so she could slide out. As soon as she was gone I turned to face her side of the room and inspected it slowly. Covering her walls were various different fashion posters and above her headboard was a collage of different runway looks, I deduced from those that she was a fashion student.

I shrugged it off and started decorating my own side, first making a collage on the wall of Polaroids that I had taken either of scenery that I liked, or of my friends, family and boyfriend. I then moved onto hanging up some of the art I had painted on canvases, before finally making my bed up with the tie-dye pink and white duvet set I had bought. Unpacking my clothes came next, I completed that pretty fast and then hid my suitcases away underneath my bed for when I needed them to go home for Christmas.

I stepped back and looked at my side of the room, grinning with happiness. It was only four o'clock in the afternoon at that point and Delilah hadn't returned, so I took a walk to the on-campus canteen to grab myself something to eat. Once I had finished, I headed back up the dorm and walked in to find Delilah sat cross legged on her bed with her laptop open in front of her whilst an unknown guy nosied around my side of the room.

"Elle, you're back!" Delilah cheered and I smiled, still keeping my eyes firmly glued to the guy who had his back to me. "Jesus, Ace, stop snooping and introduce yourself," Delilah rolled her eyes.

Finally the guy turned around so I could see his front and I gasped at the sight, trying to conceal it behind a cough. He was a tall guy, around six feet tall, with a muscular build and tattoos lining his arms and neck. His dark hair was cut short on the sides and a mop of brown on top that he continuously pushed out of his face. I noticed that he was doing the exact same thing to me as I was doing to him; creepily staring me up and down.

"Egh I'll introduce you then," Delilah huffed. "Elle, this is Ace. Ace, this is my new roommate Elle," she introduced and instead of saying hello he simply nodded, acknowledging me.

"Hi," I forced out. "D'ya mind?" I pointed to my side of the room, he held his hands up in mock arrest and moved away, remaining on Delilah's side of the room.

"Where did you head out to then?" Delilah asked.

"I set up my side of the room first, then I went to get food," I explained.

Delilah nodded, I didn't know if she was paying attention or not as she was still tapping away at keys on her laptop. "I looked at your photos," she nodded to my Polaroid canvas. "You have some fit guys on there, any of them your boyfriend?"

I chuckled and walked over to a photo of Carson and I at a Winter Wonderland themed Carnival before pointing at him. "That's my boyfriend, he's called Carson," I explained.

She nodded. "Who are the ones in the photo next to that one?" She asked and I looked at the one next to it to see it was Sawyer, Harley and I from Halloween two years ago. We were dressed as Charlie's Angels.

I laughed as I inspected the photo. "They're my brothers," I smiled and then looked away before I started uncontrollably crying. I think Delilah sensed my sadness seeing as she didn't bring it up again.

"What are you wearing to the party then?" Delilah asked, changing the subject. I was about to answer when I saw that Ace was no longer nosying around my side of the room and instead he was trying to strike up a cigarette.

"Hey, hey!" I snapped and he stopped, holding the unlit cigarette in his mouth.

"What?" He shot back.

"You're not smoking in here," I raised an eyebrow at him. "First of all it's against the rules, and second of all I don't want to die of cancer because of your bad choices."

Delilah smirked, obviously surprised I stood up for myself. "Oh really, and who's going to stop me?" His lips quirked into a daring smile.

"Oh I'm not," I said innocently. "But that might," I said, pointing to the smoke detector on the ceiling.

"Just wait until we get outside, Ace," Delilah groaned.

Ace pushed the cigarette packet and lighter back into his pocket, rolling his eyes. "Whatever. You win, this time," he bitterly remarked.

"As I said before, what are you wearing?" Delilah asked again.

Ace groaned loudly. "Fucking bored of this place, m'going for a smoke. A girl I bang lives here too so don't wait up," he grumbled and left the room without Delilah or myself saying goodbye.

"I'll look what I'm wearing now," I said and walked over to my wardrobe. "What's up his ass?"

Delilah shrugged. "He's like that with new people, he'll warm up to you eventually. I love how you put him in his place, though," she laughed. "Nobody has ever done that. I mean like ever."

I shrugged it off and searched through my wardrobe, coming out with a pencil skirt which I didn't have anything to pair it with. "Do you have anything to go with this?" I asked, holding out the skirt and she squealed before rushing over to her own wardrobe, opening to to rifle through.

"My old roommate never let me dress her up - I'm a fashion student so that was basically a cardinal sin for me. I mean she basically only ever wore leather skirts and tops that barely covered her tits, but she could have let me dress her at least once," she rambled, searching through her wardrobe before she came out with a dress. "Ditch the skirt, you'd look so amazing in this."

I took the dress from her and looked down at it, it was a satin Burgundy colored dress with small straps at the top and a square neck that would show a little cleavage. "I love it, thank you," I grinned happily. I would never normally wear something like this, but I never usually partied so I might as well.

Half an hour later I had squeezed myself into the far-too-tight dress and was sat on my bed as Delilah applied my make up. She had begged to do an intricate make-up look which involved gold and silver glitter but ended up agreeing on just a simple eye look, I definitely wasn't bold enough to pull off the looks she did.

"Open your eyes," she said and I fluttered my eyes open. She was close to my face, examining the work she had done. "I've gotta say you have stunning eyes Doll," she smiled and brushed my brunette curls out of my face. "I wish you didn't have a boo, I'd definitely tap that," she winked and walked to the other side of the room to retrieve something from her make up bag. My mouth dropped open in surprise.

"Wait, you're-"

"Gay?" She answered for me and I nodded. "Hell yeah, guys are way too complicated. My life got so much easier when I realised I was way more attracted to girls," she chuckled and returned with a lipstick. "Pucker up princess," she teased and I moved my lips around so she could spread the lipstick on for me.

"When did you, y'know, come out?" I asked, genuinely interested.

"About three or so years ago," she said and then stepped away to look at my make-up. "You're all done!"

"Thanks," I smiled happily, looking at myself in the mirror. Wow, she was good at that.

"No problem girl. How long have you been with Carson then?" She asked, saying Carson's name in a dreamy voice.

I laughed. "Only six months. But we've been best friends for most of our lives," I explained and she nodded, listening as she started to apply her own make up.

"So what? One night you were at a party or something, got drunk and fucked? Then you realised you were in love the whole time?" She hummed, pretending to act out some sort of romance movie.

I laughed even harder at her, shaking my head. "No! Nothing like that, actually. It's so embarrassing but I got stood up on a date and he saved the day, he took me out himself. We kissed at the end of the date and from there we just... I don't know, started dating I guess," I smiled remembering that night. It went from one of the most humiliating nights of my life to one of the best nights.

"You got stood up?" She said, absolutely shellshocked for some reason. "Wow, okay. Well that's super cute. Is he the only guy you've ever... been with?" She asked suggestively and my cheeks heated at the question, my friends at home were never really open about sex.

I nodded, though. "Yeah, I mean I was never great with guys before him so I didn't have many opportunities to give up my v-card before he came along," I joked and she rolled her eyes.

"Girl, you're going to be batting guys off of you tonight... Just you wait."

The conversation slowly died off until Delilah had finished her make-up and we were doing the finishing touches like getting our shoes on before heading out. Ace was apparently waiting outside in the car to take us after being with his girlfriend for the afternoon. "Ready?" Delilah asked and I nodded, ignoring the looming sense of anxiety forming in the pit of my stomach.
