Jihyun

The sound of footsteps got louder and the metal door slammed open. I snapped open my eyes and sat up to see who was there. When did I fall asleep? What time is it?

Ji Ae groans and slowly starts to wake up as well. She looked around the room confused and assessed the situation. Once the memories started to flood back, she reached out for me and I grabbed her hand.

I blinked away the sleep and focused my eyes to the door. Three people entered the room: the witch, daddy's secretary, and a guard.

"How long have they been out?" Sana turns to the two men. Since she was wearing a skimpy dress, her 4 month pregnant belly was starting to become noticeable when she turned the side.

"She looks fat." Ji Ae whispers to me.

Nope. I was wrong. She did not understand our situation at all.

"What did you just say about me?" Sana snapped at Ji Ae.

"They've been out for about three hours." Daddy's secretary cut in, turning Sana's attention back to him. Jaesuk I think his name was. What a backstabber.

"And you've just let them sleep this whole time?" Sana scoffed.

The guard looked at Jaesuk to see if they were given any orders, but Jaesuk only shook his head and shrugged.

Sana walked towards us and smiled wickedly. "No one is coming to save you, you know? You're all alone and in my control." The witch runs her long manicured nails drag along Ji Ae's cheek. "No one is ever coming to find you."

"Liar. Mommy and daddy will come save us."

"And where are they? Where is Jungkook and his slut?" Sana feigned thoughtfulness then cackled. "Oh right. They're in New York, a whole ocean away. You think they'll come and save you? Do you think they really care about you? If they really cared then they wouldn't have left you here alone. Jungkook is being so manipulated by that skank that he doesn't even care about you."

Ji Ae spits at Sana's face.

Sana closed her eyes then wiped the spit off her cheek. When she opened her eyes again, there was fire blazing within. "You fucking bitch." Sana dug her nails into Ji Ae's cheeks causing her to whimper and draw out a speck of blood.

"Don't even think about touching her!" I pushed the witch away from us and she stumbled back due to her 6 inch heels that looked like a death trap. How can people walk in those things?

Jaesuk was right there to catch Sana in an instant. As I turned around to examine Ji Ae, I noticed the concerned look that he had on his face when he looked at the witch and her belly.

"Does it hurt?" I asked my twin and touched the small puncture wounds, one on each cheek. My blood was boiling when I saw her blood on my hands. I wanted to do more than just push that witch if she weren't pregnant.

"You ungrateful, uneducated, uncultured bastards!" Sana spews out cusses while glaring at us. "You're just like her!"

"Actually." I tilted my head up. "I'm more like my daddy. I don't think your babies would understand what that's like because they'll have the genes of a witch and a traitor." I gave a pointed look at daddy's secretary. "Daddy is going to do more than just fire you once he finds out you helped to come between him and mommy. He's going to kill you."

"At this point, I'm not scared of anything." Jaesuk answered and I saw past his lie.

"Jaesuk." Sana straightened up and threw away Jaesuk's hand that was holding her steady. "Duct tape their mouths so I don't have to hear another word coming from their filthy mouths, then I want you to whip them."

"Whip them?" Daddy's secretary looked at the devious woman in alarm.

"Whip them, beat them up. I don't care, as long as they are punished for their attitudes towards me." Sana waved her hand carelessly.

"They're children, Sana!" Jaesuk argued. "I won't hurt children. The whole plan was to just use them against Y/N so she would stay away from Jungkook."

Mommy isn't here so I can finally say... What a stupid plan.

"So what? I've changed my mind." Sana examines her nails and then clicks her tongue. "I won't be disrespected by a whore's kids and the girl made me ruin my nails." Sana sent us one last glare before making her way out the door. "Get it done or else you're out. I've gotten everything that I needed from you anyways. You're useless to me now."

The guard looks at Jaesuk then at Sana before he closes the metal door sealing in Jaesuk, Ji Ae, and I.

Jaesuk rubs his temples and lets out a deep sigh before side-eyeing us. I stood in front of Ji Ae and tried to block her out of his sight as much as possible. We both stared straight into each other's eyes. While his eyes were full of uncertainty, I had a challenge in mine.

"Why aren't you doing anything?" I sneered. "Or do you not have it in you to beat up two defenseless kids even after you've kidnapped them? Didn't your boss say to duct tape our mouths and beat us up? Actually, who is your boss by the way? I thought you worked for daddy, but here we are taking orders from the crazy lady."

"It's not like a child would understand how the adult world works." Jaesuk drawled.

"I think that I am thinking more rationally than that crazy woman." I copied his same tone. "She kidnapped two kids and wants to torture them just so she can get a man who will never love her. And you helped her." I gave a small pause and carefully watched for his reaction. "What? Is it because you love her?"

Jaesuk winced. "You can't throw around the word love that easily."

He didn't deny my words.

"Yet she always claims that she is in love with daddy." I argued."Mommy calls that an obsession, you know."

Jaesuk narrowed his eyes, but he seemed inclined to agree with me.

"Why are you in love with that witch?" Ji Ae asked out of genuine curiosity. "She has a terrible personality and is crazy."

"A child wouldn't understand the definition of love or how it works." Jaesuk knocks on the door and the guard standing outside opens it for him. "I'll be back with supplies. Don't enter the room until I get back."

Daddy's secretary left the room and then it was just back to Ji Ae and I.

"You don't think they'll kill us right, Hyun?" Ji Ae asked and I turned back to face her. "Daddy and mommy will come save us right?"

I could see the haunted look in her eyes and the small trembles that coursed through her body.

"Of course." I nodded and wrapped my arms around her. "They're daddy and mommy. They can do anything together."

"Do you..." My sister hesitated, her face turning grim. "If we die... Do you think that daddy and mommy will still be together?"

"We won't die." I reassured her. "And daddy and mommy love each other. They will be together. I know it."

"But how do you know?"

Ji Ae herself witnessed that my relationship with daddy was getting better, but she was still skeptical of my complete 180 degree reaction just now. Ji Ae knew that I would never approve of daddy just for a few boxing lessons. And the small smile on my face only brought her confusion.

I had a small knowing smile on my face.

"Because if they didn't love each other then daddy wouldn't have gone to New York."

I woke up to the faint brush of daddy's hand on my shoulder. I opened my eyes just as he turned to answer the phone ringing in another room.

I rubbed my eyes and woke Ji Ae up before I hopped out of bed to go to the bathroom. I stepped into the hallway and in the room down the hall, I saw daddy sitting on his bed with a smile on his face. I walked closer to the room and watched him.

"You'll turn into an alcoholic." He teased whoever was on the other line, but the instant regret on his face had me guessing who it was.

Mommy.

He listened to whatever she had to say and the whole time he had a peaceful look on his face. Daddy's eyes were glossed over as if he was imagining something.

"I don't want to ask you if you regret it, because you've told me a hundred times already that you don't. I'm grateful for that, but I won't stop apologizing." Daddy said, and I wondered what he was grateful for. "I wasn't a father for years and I tried to be, but we both know how that turned out. Now I'm failing miserably, but trying to make things right."

I looked down at my feet. He wasn't there at the times we needed a father. When we cried to mommy asking where our daddy was because everyone else had a mommy and a daddy. And when we finally learned to live with the fact that we didn't have a daddy, he came into our lives.

At first he didn't know that he was our daddy, but acted like he was. He was a good daddy until that witch came along with her babies, but that wasn't his fault. His fault was that he didn't know if he loved mommy or not. That is why Ji Ae and I are unforgiving.

Sure we still care about daddy, but a daddy is supposed to love a mommy. No matter how hard he tries to be a daddy to us, to me, mommy will always come first.

"He's a momma's boy." Daddy continued after a long pause. "I'm afraid to tell you that he was just interested in learning ways to protect you and Ae. It has nothing to do with me."

I looked at my fist and recalled the boxing techniques that he taught me the night before. It had nothing to do with daddy... right? I just wanted to learn boxing to protect Ji Ae and mommy... right? It had nothing to do with daddy teaching me, right?

"I think you should go to bed now." He told mommy in the softest voice I've ever heard him speak with. "Night."

Daddy finally hung up the phone and that was when he noticed me standing by the door. I carefully looked at daddy's face.

"Was that mommy?" I asked him.

He was studying me just like how I was studying him. Like he had just realized something new too.

"Yeah, but she was tired and fell asleep. Did you want to speak with her?"

I shook my head. "Ae is awake. Let's go back to Seoul." Back to where that witch was waiting for daddy.

Daddy secretly lets out a sigh like he's dreading to return back to the city, but I heard him.

He loves mommy right? Right.

Ji Ae

I wondered how long we've been stuck here and if anyone had noticed that we were missing. How did grandma react when it was late and we still haven't returned home? Did mommy and daddy even know that we were missing?

There was so much time on our hands and nothing to do so it was difficult not to go crazy inside your head.

"What time is it, Hyun?" I asked my brother for the nth time and he rolled up his sleeve to check his watch.

"9 pm." He grumbles from where he sat on a stack of wooden crates which were against the wall. "It hasn't even been 5 minutes since you've last asked."

"I'm bored." I whined.

"Then go to sleep." Jihyun kept his eyes back on the door like he has been doing for the last hour and a half since we were left alone again. "I'll keep watch."

"I don't want to sleep on the ground." I shifted my foot, and it had swept a trail of dust and dirt off the ground. "It's dirty."

Jihyun sighed at my antics then hopped off the crates. "Help me move these."

Together we removed a couple of crates away from the wall to make a makeshift bed and bench. While Jihyun adjusted the crates, I went to retrieve another piece to complete the bed. I pushed another crate off the wall then paused.

There was a rusted air vent hidden behind the crate and the stack next to it.

"Uh... Hyun?" I called for him.

"It hasn't even been 10 minutes. Stop asking me for the time." He ignored me and plopped himself down on the makeshift bed.

"No. Come here."

Jihyun rolled his eyes then walked towards me. "What?" I pointed to the vent and he looked baffled as if he couldn't believe what we'd found. "Huh." He gestured to me to help him push away the rest of the crates so we had a full view of the vent.

"Do you think we can somehow open it?" I whispered. We didn't know if the guard standing watch outside could hear us so we started speaking as quietly as possible.

He grabs a hold of the vent and pulls as hard as he could, then he shakes his head. "It's bolted shut. We need a screwdriver or something to open it."

"Then it's completely useless?" I sulked thinking that I found something that would allow us to escape.

"At least we know it's here."

The door unlocks again and daddy's secretary walks back in with a plastic bag in each hand. We both turned to him like deer caught in headlights and he assessed the two of us. He saw the makeshift bed then the vent behind us.

Jaesuk doesn't say anything as he closes the door and puts the bags on the makeshift bed.

"We weren't doing anything." I broke the silence and Jihyun shook his head next to me.

"Way to make us look suspicious." He mutters and I elbow him for his words.

"Both of you, come here." Jaesuk ordered us and we were hesitant to go. Sana's orders to Jaesuk to whip us flashed into my mind and I reached for Jihyun's hand. He gives my hand a squeeze back. "Now."

Out of fear, my feet automatically moved forward and we sat on the far edge of the makeshift bed, as far away from Jaesuk as possible.

Jaesuk sticks his hand into the plastic bag and that was when I sniffed the air and caught onto the heavenly aroma coming from the bags. He pulls out two plastic bowls of ramen and slides them over to us.

I reached for the ramen, but Jihyun held his hand out to stop me. "Why are you giving us food?"

"You haven't eaten in a while. Aren't you hungry?" Jaesuk also hands us wooden chopsticks and forks. My stomach growled as a response and Jihyun let up. I split the wooden chopsticks then removed the plastic lid to dig in. "Don't worry. I didn't put poison in it."

Jihyun stopped playing with his food and then took a bite after seeing my happy reaction.

Jaesuk reaches into the other plastic bag and pulls out bandages and antibiotics.

"It's a little too late for that." I muttered and touched my cheeks where the small puncture wounds were already close to finishing healing. "It doesn't hurt anymore."

"Better late than never." He answers and slides closer to us which we allowed. "It's dirty here and I don't know how many bacteria are in here. I rather you not get an infection."

He takes an antibiotic wipe and cleans each of my cheeks before putting the bandage on it.

"You don't want us to get an infection but you're still ok with kidnapping us?" Jihyun snaps back. The adult looked fed up with my twin's constant reminder of his crimes towards us.

"My intention was never to hurt you." Jaesuk tosses the trash into the plastic bags. "Just threaten."

"Well you've threatened us enough, don't you think? But I don't see you doing anything to help us out of here."

"Jihyun was the bad twin and the one to hold grudges on people." I added and slurped up my noodles. "Once you do something, even if he forgives, he won't forget."

Jaesuk watched us eat our ramen then his phone started to ring. He pulls it out of his pocket and then his lips pressed into a thin line, his skin going pale.

"Is that daddy?" Jihyun asks with his sharp intuition.

Jaesuk answers the phone and lifts it up to his ear. For a moment he didn't say a thing before answering. "Hello?"

"If you don't want to spend the rest of your life in prison, I suggest that you get out of Korea before the time I return or else I'll put you in the jail cell myself." Daddy's burst of anger could still be heard over the phone and my heart fluttered with hope. Mommy and daddy were coming to save us. "Where are my kids?"

"Don't you think it's rude to suddenly throw out accusations, Mr. Jeon?" Jaesuk responded.

"Enough with the bullshit. I already have footage of you accessing my computer and the twins were last seen with you. I think that's enough evidence for the police to make you a suspect."

"It's about time you've realized that your kids were missing." Jaesuk said, coolly. "They've been in my hands for what? Four hours?"

"Let me talk to my kids so I know that they're ok." Mommy's voice cut in, as equally loud and distressed as daddy's.

This time, Jihyun was the first one to reach his hand out and I squeezed it.

Jaesuk glanced at us then put the phone on speaker. "They're right here."

"Mommy." Jihyun and I both breathed out at the same time.

"Hyun? Ae?" Mommy whispered as if she didn't believe it. "Is that really you?"

"Mommy, I miss you." I whimpered. "I don't want to be here."

"It's ok baby, we'll save you as soon as possible." Mommy's voice cracked.

"Jihyun, how are you holding up, buddy?" Daddy asked my twin.

"I would've been better if you had just brought us with you in the first place." Jihyun responds and daddy only chuckles because he knows Jihyun was only joking. "Why are you engaged to such a psycho?"

"Not by choice, Hyun." Daddy says in a low voice.

"If I were you then I would get on the quickest flight back rather than speak on the phone." Jaesuk warns mommy and daddy. "They don't have much time."

"If you touch a single hair on their-" Jaesuk ended the phone call before mommy could finish her sentence, but we all had an idea of what she was going to say.

"Your parents aren't going to come save you for at least another 14 hours. I suggest that you just sleep. Sana isn't coming back until tomorrow afternoon and no one will touch you without our permission."

"Sana told them to hurt us whenever they want though." Jihyun pointed out, glaring at Jaesuk.

Huh? When did he hear that. Now that you mention it, how did he know that Jaesuk was the daddy of Sana's babies?

"Then don't give them a reason to. Just stay quiet and sleep."

Jaesuk left the room once more and I turned to my twin with my arms crossed. "You weren't put to sleep on the way here did you?"

"He tried." Jihyun shrugs. "I'm just smarter than you."

Wow, what a great brother.

"That is not fair, he attacked me first so you had more time to prepare." I argued. "If you saw me in distress then why didn't you run away and find someone to help?"

"Why don't you be quiet so they don't have a reason to come beat us up?" Jihyun shot back and laid on the makeshift bed.

My jaws dropped at his shamelessness and kicked him. Then all the sudden, the lights went out and I took it that it was our signal to go to sleep. I let out a huff then laid on the makeshift bed.

"Do you really think that he doesn't want to hurt us?" I whispered to Jihyun.

Jihyun turns onto his side to face me. "Maybe he might not want to, but it doesn't mean that he might not do it if he had no other choice."

"I hope that he is a nice man." I mumbled, my eyes slowly drifting shut after the exhausting day we've had. "I think he can do so much better than the witch."

"Anyone can do better than that witch." Jihyun yawned.

"I'm still annoyed at you." I muttered as I drifted to sleep. "You could've saved yourself..."

"You know I'm never going to leave you alone." Jihyun's voice started to fade with fatigue. "We're a team."
