Y/N

7 Years Later

I was woken up by the sound of my phone ringing. I groaned and reached over to my nightstand where my phone was, or at least where I put it last night.

When I couldn't find it, I sleepily opened my eyes and saw it in the hands of my two children.

"Babies.... Answer it for mommy." I groaned and rolled onto my back. They giggle before answering it.

"Hello?" The younger answers, her voice too cheerful for the morning. "GRANDMA! HOW ARE YOU!"

She's certainly my daughter.... I sighed and sat up when I heard my mother on the phone. I put my hand out for the phone and she places it in my hand.

"Hello? Mom?" I yawn and stretch, holding my phone between my shoulder and ear.

"Y/N, how are you? Why haven't you called recently? I thought you three were dead!" She scolded me and I let out a light laugh signalling my lovelies out of the room. Once they scurried out the room, leaving a small gap in the door I turned back to the phone.

"Mom, I've been busy. Ji Ae and Jihyun just entered elementary school a few months ago." I say and get off my bed. I walk to my bathroom and brush my teeth. "Why are you even calling? Isn't it like 9pm in Seoul?"

"Yes?"

"It's past your bedtime!"

"I'm older than you! Have some respect!"

"At least you know you're older..." I mutter, a smile on my face. "Old people have to sleep early."

"I'm not that old! I'm only 56! I'm still in my prime."

"No you're not mom, stop thinking you're young." I spit the tooth paste and rinsed my mouth. "Are you going to tell me why you're calling?"

"Y/N. Come back home." She says and I paused.

"What did you just say?" I furrowed my eyebrows and grabbed my cleanser, spreading it around my face.

"Y/N, come home. I miss you and I want to see my grandchildren."

"Mom you know you can always come and visit us, you can even live here. We have an extra room if you want to live with us." I finished washing my face and dried it with a towel. I walked out of the bathroom with the phone in my hand as I walked to my closet.

"That house isn't yours. It was bought by Mrs. Park. You're living there for free sweetie, don't you feel like you're in debt to them? They payed for most of your tuition and expenses." My mother lectures me and I gritted my teeth remembering the deal that Mrs. Park and I had.

"Mom, Mrs. Park is the one in debt to me. I chose to leave Jimin like she wished. Even if she has no responsibility to look after my children she should give back what I could have had with Jimin." I say angrily and changed into a blouse and pencil skirt. "Plus I have a stable job here, the only thing I have from her now is the house which I'm currently paying the expenses for."

"Y/N.... Your dad has cancer." She says in a broken voice and I stopped in my tracks.

"What?"

"He's been coughing up blood and he's been losing a lot of weight. Last week he fainted at work. All the money you've sent us was used for the hospital bill."

Although I hated my father for putting us through debt and abusing us, he was once a kind father who placed family on top of everything.

"He's been asking for you... He wants to see the children."

I bit my lip and tightly gripped my phone. "Alright. I'll try to get there as early as possible."

I hung up the phone and rested my head against the wall, a migraine forming in my head.

But what if I see him

I pulled my self together and walked out of my room, my twins were eating cereal and watching tv at the same time. I pecked their cheeks and went to pour myself a cup of coffee.

"Kid, how would you feel about living in Korea?" I asked them and they stared at me with their big eyes.

"Yay! We get to go to Korea! See grandma and grandpa!" Ji Ae cheers and almost spills her cereal, earning a warning look from me.

"But I thought you didn't want to go back mommy." The older, Jihyun said. I sighed and ruffled my son's when he was giving me a suspicious look. He's been smart enough to see through me on multiple occasions, I'm pretty sure he's actually smarter than I am.

"Your grandma misses you and your grandpa is sick. They want us to live with them in Korea." I sit down and rub his arm when he leans against me. "That means that we're not coming back for a while you know."

"But what about our friends? School?" Ji Ae questions and I give her a sad smile.

"You're going to have to make new ones and you'll have to go to school there."

"NO! I don't want to go!" Ji Ae shakes her and starts to throw a tantrum. She spills her cereal onto the floor and I let out exasperated sigh.

"Ji Ae, your grandparents are asking for you and you don't want to go?"

She nods, tears forming in her eyes. I put my coffee down and squatted in front of her, taking her small hands in mine as I stared into her eyes. "I promise you, you'll like it in Korea. Mommy grew up there and she met wonderful people."

"If you like it then why don't you ever want to go back?" My daughter wipes her tears. I bit my lip and stared at our entwined hands.

"Ae, grandpa is sick. Although we don't like him he's family." Jihyun places his hand on his twin and Ji Ae looks at him. "Remember what mommy told us? Even if we hate them, family is for life. We're the only ones they have left."

"But I still don't want to go." Ji Ae mumbles and I used the last resort.

"Your dad..." I started and the two of them looked at me with interest. "He might be somewhere in Korea."

"I thought you didn't know where daddy is." Jihyun says and I shake my head.

"I don't, but there's a high chance he lives in Korea." I take their hands in mine and I looked into both their eyes. "So. Are you willing to go now?"

"YES!"

----

I pushed the cart which had our suitcases along, the twins on either side of me holding onto my coat.

I looked around the arrival and when my eyes landed on a familiar face I smile.

"MOM!" I yelled and our eyes met. A huge smile formed on her face and the twins ran towards her.

"Grandma!" They yelled and my mother scooped them in for a big bear hug.

"Ah my lovelies! You're so grown up now!"

I pushed the cart towards them and I gave her a hug. "Hi mom."

"Y/N you look so mature now! You really look like a mom!"

I rolled my eyes and followed her to the parking lot, the kids holding her hands. Once I stepped outside the airport, I took a deep breath it was the smell of home.

I was back.

I put the suitcases into the trunk and got into the passenger seat. We started driving down the highway and I looked back, the kids were sleeping.

"It takes you 2 months to return, what took you this long? You have dual citizenship so it wouldn't be hard to come back."

"Yes but resigning, transferring schools, selling furniture takes a lot of work you know." I sighed and looked out the window, watching the buildings past by. "I also managed to get Mrs. Park to hand me the deed to the house so it's legally mine now."

"Are you going to sell it?" She glances at me before looking back to the road. I shook my head.

"If we ever go back I want to continue to live there." I say, a frown forms on my mothers face. I knew she didn't want me to leave again but I wasn't sure how long I could stand being in Korea.

We arrived at the apartment, I bought for my parents a few years back. It had enough rooms to fit us all so we decided to stay there and I didn't have to spend more time looking for a house.

"WEEE!" Ji Ae shouts as she sits on top of her suitcase, letting it roll down the sidewalk.

"Ae that's dangerous! Get off!" I shouted. Jihyun caught up with her and pulled her off the suitcase, I gave him a thankful look and took the rest of the suitcases out of the car.

"You know, Yoona lives here as well. I've ran into her a couple of times." My mother informs me. Yoona was my friend. Yes, was. After she learned I was pregnant 7 years ago, she started avoiding me and spread rumors about me.

I didn't care however, if she wasn't accepting that I was pregnant then she wasn't a real friend. I flopped onto the couch and let out a long sigh.

"Why don't you go to your room and sleep? I'll handle the kids." My mother offers and I nodded. I barely slept the past month with all the papers I had to handle.

I walked to my room and took a quick shower. I changed into a tank top and sweats before falling asleep.

----

I felt the bed sink slightly then someone pounced on me. I groaned and opened my eyes to see the culprit. Ji Ae was sitting on my stomach, a grin on her face.

"Morning mommy!"

I groaned and wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her down to bed with me. I cuddled her and she lets out high pitch squeals which definitely woke me up but I wasn't willing to move.

"Mommy! Let go of me!" She giggles and I kissed her cheek.

"Never."

The door opens and Jihyun walks in, he only shakes his head and approaches my bed. I used my other arm and I scooped him up as well, hugging both of them while they struggled.

"Mom!" Jihyun whines. I kissed his forehead and closed my eyes, making snoring sounds.

"MOM GET UP! STOP SLEEPING!" Ji Ae pats my face and I open my eyes, and pretend to bite her. She screams and falls backwards after I let go of them.

"Are you three done playing around?" I turned my head and my mom was leaning against the door, a smile on her face.

"Were you the one who told them to wake me up?" I sat up and the kids sit comfortably on my lap.

"They said they wanted to see their grandpa today." I looked down at my twins and they looked at me with expectant eyes.

"Ok, let me get dressed and we can go lunch after the hospital."

I chase them off my lap and they run to their rooms to get changed. My mom closes the door behind them and I reached for my phone to look for any new notifications. I frowned at the first one that appeared on my screen.

Mrs. Park:
You better stay away from Jimin and Seoul

Mrs. Park:
You know he's engaged and has forgotten about you already

My chest tightened at the last text, but I was completely aware of it. I have been for 2 years.

Jimin was no longer mine. But if he hasn't looked for me, or called me. I know he loves me, because he knows it's what I want. This is how we love. By no longer being apart of each other's lives.
