Arthit's POV

"...Arthit, "

My heart was pounding so unbelievably fast.

It felt like I was in a game trying to do a buzzer-beater shot.

I saw him dropped his hand to his side and turned to look at me.

The fudge?

How did he find out?

I was unsure whether to stay or to go out from my hiding place.

I opted the latter.

I awkwardly walked out of the cubicle.

I couldn't look at him directly.

I was ashamed to be caught by him.

I bet my face might be red by now.

I need to recover myself from this embarrassment.

"I wasn't eavesdropping, " I strode towards him keeping my pace steady.

I stopped by the sink beside him and washed my hands.

"Uh huh, " he was obviously not buying it.

"I-I only heard t-the go-good bye part, " why was I explaining?

"If you say so, " I wanted to rip his mouth. The smile on it wasn't helping.

"I won't tell anybody that he is your boyfriend, like I care anyway. " I said. I made sure that my tone was calm.

He laughed out loud.

I loathe his smile.

His laughter.

And most especially him.

"What's funny? " I asked. I raised my brow.

"You, " he said plainly.

I glowered at him.

I need to leave now before I give in to the temptation of wringing his neck.

I started to walk out but I suddenly remembered something.

"Anyway, I heard Knot and Prem were scouting you to join our team. "

He looked slightly disoriented. "Ah, the basketball team? " he said.

I don't like how he was taking it lightly.

"Yes, " I responded coldly.

"What about it? "

"If you are really not interested, just turn them down. " I demanded.

He smirked. "Why? "

"Because we don't need someone who isn't passionate about it. We'd rather train someone who is into it than settle with you. " I told him directly.

His smirk turned into a mischievous smile.

I continued to walk past him. When I was a step away. I was surprised when he held my hand to cease me.

I shifted my gaze towards his hand on my shoulder then at him.

"Don't you recognize me? " he asked in a low tone. He tilted his head to look at me.

"Why? Am I supposed to know you? " I retorted.

The corner of his mouth twitched again. It gave an impression that he knew something I don't.

"What? " my voice higher this time.

He looked like he was contemplating inside. "Nothing. " then shook his head.

I freed my shoulder from his touch sharply then walked out without looking back.

"What?! " I yelled. "No way, coach. "

"I was there when he played for the finals and I must say he was impressive. His footwork was on point. His shooting percentage was high. He knew how to control the game. If we want to win the championship, he can be a great help. "
I was called out by coach Tim after our lunch. I found out that he wanted me to personally scout and convince Kongpob to join our team.

How would I do that after I told him off this afternoon?

"Knot is already into that, he can definitely do it. " I complained.

"As the team captain, it's your job to find good teammates as well Arthit. "

"Really coach? You're using that card on me now? " I sighed frustratingly.

Coach Tim just smiled. He knew he won this argument.

I excused myself to look for Knot and Prem.

I saw them fooling around with the others.

"Knot, what was the status of Kongpob joining in? "

"He wasn't giving us a clear response. "

"Can you come and help me talk to him? " I asked him.

"What happened to not forcing him if he wasn't interested? " he asked teasingly.

"If it were me, I wouldn't do this but coach was vouching for him as well. He wanted me to scout him. "

I wasn't that convinced about Kongpob's skills yet in basketball but since coach and Knot were vouching for him. I wanted to give him a benefit of the doubt.

I was planning to test his skills.

If he passed, I will do everything for him to register in our team. If he doesn't, I would never let him join no matter what coach would say about it.

"Let me text him, " Knot took out his phone.

"He said he was in the study hall. "

"Let's go, " I walked towards Prem and Bright who were currently flirting with girls.

I grabbed both of them by the collar.

"Wait, " they both said in sync.

"Arthit, we don't want to be single like you forever. " Bright complained.

Prem just let me dragged him along throwing kisses to the girls.

I laughed out loud. "Who said I'll be single forever? "

"Me? Because you are forever in love with Sahit. " he added.

I flipped his forehead. "Shut up, "

"Where are we going? " Prem asked.

Knot was walking behind us.

"Study hall, "

"Why? I'm allergic to the smell of books. " he joked.

"To chase someone. " I said in suspense.

They got stirred up.

"Whoa, who is it? " asked Bright.

"Who? " They asked simultaneously.

"Kongpob, " I replied.

They both shut up and they both wore a huge grin on their faces.

We reached the study hall for engineering. Thankfully, it wasn't that crowded so it wasn't that difficult to spot him.

He was in the corner, he had his face on his book. He seemed so engrossed at what he was reading.

I sighed deeply then walked up to him.

"Hey, " his gaze broke from his book to me slowly.

He creased his brow then a smile graced his lips. "To whom do I owe this honor? "

"I need to talk to you, " he looked and nodded to my friends.

He put his book down. "Sure, what is it? "

"I'm here to propose, " I unwittingly said.

He chuckled. "Propose? " a playful smile was on his lips. "So fast, you haven't even confessed yet. "

I heard my friends chuckled.

Pull yourself together, Arthit. I reminded myself. "I mean, on Saturday, 4pm at the gym. We play. If I win, you join the team. If not, we won't bother you anymore. "

"By 'we', you mean? " he inquired.

Knot, Prem and Bright were just carefully listening to us.

"You and me, just us two. " I said.

"I like that part, " he showed off his bright smile again.

"Which part? " I asked and raised my brow.

I don't remember saying anything that could make him smile that happily.

"The 'us' part" he teased.

I heard Bright whistled.

I felt like my face became hot.
