Four thousand one hundred sixteen. That's how many days Grayson Woods has been tormenting me.

Grayson is Devyn's best friend, which is the main reason I put up with him. He has dark brown fluffy hair and bright blue eyes. And yes, Grayson might be handsome as hell, but he's a complete asshole.

The first time I met him, I had been six years old. I was wearing a Cinderella dress, and Aria had been wearing a Snow White dress. Devyn came home from his first day of second grade with a boy I had never met before. When I asked who he was, Devyn explained that he was the boy he had made friends with, whose name was Grayson. I went up to him to introduce myself. Hi. I'm Emery, I said. He laughed at me and told me I was going to have to try a lot harder if I wanted to impress him.

Impress him. Like that's what I was trying to do. I hadn't even known he was coming over, so how the fuck had I been dressed up to impress him?

I had told him that he was not a very nice boy, but he only laughed harder. After that, I pretty much declared us enemies and only talked to him when I wanted to piss him off.

And now as I stare at Devyn and Grayson, laughing at some stupid joke one of them told, I can't help but think about all of the other times he's been an asshole to me.

"Emery," I hear Aria say impatiently like she's been calling my name for a while.

I turn to face her, giving her a sheepish look, "yeah?"

She sighs and grabs my hand, pulling me around the corner to the spot our friends are talking.

"Dude," Leia says smirking. "You were totally checking out Grayson."

"I was not checking anyone out, you idiot," I snap at her. God, I fucking hate him.

"Of course not, Emery," Rebekah says, biting her lip to keep from laughing. "You were just staring intently at him because you were trying to decide if you should do your homework."

"You're such a bitch," I laugh.

"Watch your language, Emery," Devyn says. Shit. When did he and Grayson move over here? They were just in the kitchen.

"Whatever you say, mom," I murmur.

"Funny," Grayson says, giving me his signature obnoxious expression.

"Okay, listen here, you asshole," I mutter, "nobody asked for your input or your fucking—"

"Emery," Devyn says, rolling his eyes. "Stop cussing. And Grayson, leave her alone. God you two act like fucking children."

"Oh," I snap at him, "so you can cuss, but I can't? Why the fuck is that fair?"

"Emery," Devyn says slowly. "You're my little sister. You don't need to be cussing every time you open your mouth."

"We're only one year apart," I mutter.

"Yeah," Devyn smirks, "but you're still younger."

"Okay but only—"

"And," Aria drags the word out dramatically while grabbing my hand and pulling me in the direction of my room. "We're leaving before one of you kills someone."

She pulls me into my room and once the other three girls are in the room, they close the door.

"And you said I was checking Grayson out," I scoff.

Rebekah, Leia, and Joslyn all start laughing, but Aria just rolls her eyes and mutters, "grow up."

"Never," I say, smiling brightly.

Now it's Aria's turn to laugh, "you are going to be the death of me, Em."

"Mm maybe," I murmur thoughtfully. "Probably."

Joslyn shakes her head, then suddenly gasps. "Oh my god," she squeals. "I forgot to tell you guys! Debbie Campbell finally got kicked off the cheer team!"

Rebekah smirks, "really?"

"Yes," Joslyn squeals happily.

"Good," Leia scoffs. "That bitch doesn't even know how to cheer. Everyone on the team is better than her."

"Leia, don't be bitter," Aria murmurs, even as a smile spreads across her face.

"I'm not," Leia says.

"Yeah, you are," I snort.

"Shut up," she laughs, pushing me playfully.

"I heard Devyn say he was thinking about dating again," I murmur, smirking when Leila's face goes bright red.

"Absolutely not," Aria snaps. "You're not getting with my fucking brother, Leia."

"He's Emery's brother too," Leia mutters under her breath.

"My brother that you obviously want to spend some quality couples time with," I smirk at her. Her face goes red again and she looks down at her lap.

"I think Leia and Devyn would make a hella cute couple," Rebekah purrs. "They would be super lovey-dovey and cute. And we would call them Levyn. Or Deia."

"Shut up, Rebekah," Leia snaps, putting her hands over her ears as her face goes the color of a tomato. "Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up."

Rebekah and I burst out laughing at her obvious crush on my brother.

Aria narrows her eyes at me. "Do you seriously want one of our best friends to date our brother? I can't believe you," she shakes her head.

"I don't see a problem with it," Joslyn pipes up for the first time during this conversation.

"The problem," Aria mutters, "is that when it doesn't work out between them and they break up, it's going to be awkward as shit for them to be in the same room all of the time."

Leia looks up with pain in her eyes and whispers, "what makes you think it won't work out?"

I shoot Aria a look that clearly says great going, then turn to Leia and put my hand gently on her shoulder. "It would work out. You guys are literally perfect for each other. We just don't want you to get hurt."

She sighs and nods, "yeah."

"I still think we should call them Levyn," Rebekah murmurs.

That gets a laugh out of Leia and she shakes her head, "maybe someday."

"Definitely someday," Joslyn smiles.

A loud knocking sound on the door makes us all jump. "Damnit," I mutter. "People need to stop knocking so fucking loud."

I get up and open the door to see Devyn and Grayson standing there. "I told you to stop cussing," Devyn says, frowning.

"Yeah," I say, smiling, "not gonna happen. I'd rather lick a cheese grater than stop cussing."

"Apparently," Devyn mutters.

"Why did you have to come bother us? We were having a very nice conversation until you came pounding on the fucking door," I inform him, tilting my head to the side when Grayson smirks at me.

Grayson's eyes light up with amusement as he asks, "and what might have that conversation been about?"

"None of your fucking business," I snap at him, but when I turn back to Devyn, his cheeks are pink.

I look over my shoulder to see the girls staring at me, so I grab Devyn's arm and pull him to a different room. Grayson still smirks at me as he leans against the door frame and watches me and Devyn.

"Devyn," I snap at him. "What did you hear?"

"Uhh," he murmurs, scratching the back of his next awkwardly. "Not much. Just about how you guys would call us Levyn if I dated Leia. And how Aria thinks it would be a bad idea because you think I'd hurt her."

I cock my head to the side. He's acting like he's actually into Leia. "Well, would you?"

Devyn must know what I'm thinking because his face goes pink again. "No—no that's not what I meant," he stumbles through his explanation. "I just meant that it's what I heard. And it's not like I like her or anything. Well, I mean she's one of your friends. She's nice and sweet and caring and cute. No not cute. That's not what I meant. She's—she's just—you know what, never mind."

My face lights up. "You like Leia," I squeal.

His face reddens again but instead of denying it, he looks down at his hands. He murmurs, "is that bad?"

"No," I say, rubbing his shoulder. "It's good. She likes you. A lot. And if you like her back, then you should tell her that."

"Aria will be upset," Devyn says, looking up at me.

"Well," I say, smiling widely, "that's just going to have to be a risk you're willing to take."

He nods and hugs me. "Thank you," Devyn murmurs.

"I didn't really do anything," I reply, arching an eyebrow at him. "You still have to do the hard part. Getting the courage to ask her to go out with you."
