When we got back into Westville I told Annette I wasn't in the mood to go to the mall. I needed time to just reflect on everything that happened today. She comforted me by saying Elizabeth and I could go to the mall together one night and drove me home. I decided to skip family dinner and went straight up to my room. Elizabeth kept calling my name and followed after me but once I shut my door, she got the memo that i needed to be left alone.

--

I was woken up extra early by Steve entering my room and lightly shaking my shoulder, "First day at the new school."

I shook my head, "I'll start tomorrow."

"The longer you procrastinate it, the worse it's going to be. You need to just put yourself out there and let them talk about you until they grow bored of it and move onto someone else." He encouraged as he flipped the lights on in my room.

I groaned, he was right. Getting ready for school that morning was the hardest thing ever. Way worse than the first day of school normally. It was extremely frustrating because I only had a month and a half left of this year anyways and I wished they would just let me slide. Isn't finding out your parents actually kidnapped you a good enough excuse to take the rest of the year off?

When I went down to breakfast, Elizabeth was extra peppy. She jumped excitedly when she saw me, "I can't wait for you to meet everyone! Tony is especially excited."

I raised my eyebrows, "Boyfriend?"

"Gay best friend." She responded.

We both laughed until Jacob came in and pointed at his wrist, "Car's leaving in five minutes."

We both grabbed our bags and ran out to the car. I jumped in the passenger seat and watched Elizabeth pout, "Man, maybe not having a sister was better- i always got to sit in the front."

Jacob shrugged and joked, "I kind of like the new sister more."

--

We got to the school and my mouth dropped. It was giant. At least three times the school I went to.

I got out of the car and followed Elizabeth in, everyone was staring at us. I guess it was weird to see to identical people walking next to each other.

She walked me to first period and told me she would meet me at lunch. I was absolutely freaking out because I knew no one, but they all knew me.

I waited for the bell to ring before sitting down so i wouldn't accidentally steal someone's spot. The only open seat was next to a girl with extremely curly, light brown hair. When I sat down she didn't really acknowledge me, which was really surprising.

As class started I heard some girls behind us talking and realized it was about me.

"I heard that her parents locked her away as a child so she couldn't tell anyone" The first girl said.

The second girl responded, "No way! I wouldn't be surprised if she was only staying here for the Greene's money."

The girl sitting next to spun around and commented, "Oh my gosh, that's crazy! I would be extremely surprised if you two would shut your big mouths for once in your life."

I choked back a laugh and the girls instantly shut up. I smiled at the one next to me, "Thanks."

She nodded, "No problem, they're annoying as hell anyways. Gossip girls drive me nuts. I'm Becca."

"I'm Erika, but you probably already knew that." I said, completely ignoring whatever the teacher was going on about.

"Yeah," she began, "Jacob Greene's sister. Everyone knows you."

I was taken aback, "Jacob? I'm surprised that's what I'm known for seeing as Elizabeth is my twin and he isn't that well known."

"Isn't well known? He's only the most popular, hottest guy in the entire school." She laughed

I was extremely confused. From what I had learned, I thought Jacob was an outcast. "What about Elizabeth?"

She shrugged, "Average I guess. She's just known for being Jacob's little sister too, but then you're also known for being the kidnapped kid so you got that going for you."

I rolled my eyes, "Great, the perfect title."

Becca opened her mouth to say something else until the teacher scolded everyone for talking and told us to pay attention. She slid a piece of paper into my notebook and mouthed, "My number. Text me"

I had already made one new friend, I guess this wasn't so bad.

---

I had made it through the first four classes easily. I didn't talk to anyone after Becca. They all just sort of stared at me, which was super uncomfortable. I felt like an alien or something that nobody had ever seen before.

When the bell rang signaling fifth hour, I began to wander the halls, extremely lost. I could not navigate my way around this school. It had three floors with multiple halls on each floor, meanwhile my old school was one story with only 50 classrooms.

I looked down at my phone and struggled to text Elizabeth for help while navigating my way around people until I eventually crashed right into someone.

"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry." I apologized as I looked up from my phone and took a step back. My eyes widened as I saw an extremely attractive guy in front of me.

He chuckled, "All good. You alright?"

I ran my fingers through my hair and shook my head, "Not really. I'm like, super lost."

He looked down at the schedule I was holding in my hand, "Ah, you've got Mr. Smith next. He's super chill, loves me. I'll walk you there."

I thanked him and followed him down the long hall until I heard the bell ring, "Oh shoot, I'm making you late to your class. You can totally just point me in the right direction and-"

He cut me off, "I'm just an office aid this period. Don't worry about it."

We stopped at a classroom and caught the teacher right as he was shutting the door.

"Hey, Smith! You've got a new student, she got lost." The boy explained to the teacher.

He smiled and motioned for me to come in, "No worries, this place is practically a maze."

I turned to the boy, "Thanks a lot uh..."

"Josh." He winked. "See you around."

---

The rest of my day went smoothly. I had lunch with Elizabeth and got to meet her friend, Tony, who was one of the funniest people I had ever met in my life. I only had two classes after lunch and they went by quickly. The day actually didn't suck as a whole.

As I walked out to the parking lot to meet my siblings, a few girls pushed me aside onto the sidewalk.

"So, is it true?" The blonde one asked.

I awkwardly smiled at them, "Is what true?"

"Your abductors were drug dealers." The brunette responded.

I scoffed, "Uh, no."

"Oh come on, don't lie. We want in." The blonde said impatiently.

I shook my head, "I don't know what you're talking about. My parents were normal people. Listen, I have to go."

I began to walk away until she grabbed my arm and yanked me back, "So, you really are in this for the Greene's money, huh?"

I rolled my eyes, "Not that it's any of your business, but seeing as I'm biologically related to them and still legally their child, I legally have to stay with them. Besides, I care about them."

"I'm sure. Must suck they don't feel the same about you." She laughed.

"What are you even talking about?"

She faked a gasped, "Haven't you heard? Jacob said he wished they didn't find you. Apparently he thinks you are too big of a stress to the family."

I shook my head, "He would never say that. I'm his sister."

"Maybe biologically, but do you really think after fourteen years everyone just loves you like nothing happened? You're basically a traitor." The brunette explained.

I felt myself tearing up and growing angry as I saw Jacob coming over to us. As soon as the girls saw him they squealed and put on fake happy faces.

"What's going on?" Jacob asked looking between me and the girls

I bit my lip and looked down. I didn't want anyone to know what had happened.

The blonde began to twirl her hair around her finger, "Hey, J. We should totally get together sometime! You could come swimming at my pool this weekend."

Jacob wouldn't take his eyes off me. He knew I was upset. I felt sick so I pushed my way past them and headed to the car. As I walked away I heard him say, "I have a better idea, how about you f*** off and leave my family alone."

He ran up behind me until he was next to me again, "What did they say to you?"

I shook my head, "Just get me home."

I got into the backseat of the car to have some space. Elizabeth gave me a confused look and questioned why I didn't get into the front. I saw Jacob whisper something to her and watched as her mouth dropped open. She quickly got into  the other side of the car so we were both in the back and leaned her head on my shoulder.

"I'm really happy you're back. I never want to lose you again." She told me as we began the drive home.

I nodded and told her, "I love you."

She smiled at me, "I love you more."
