Aeress

They were completely spent.

She lay on her back while he laid his head on her stomach, resting in between her legs, and she was beginning to understand just how obsessed he was with being there.

It was nighttime. The sun had fallen, giving way for the luminous moon. Daytime had gone by far too soon.

Warrick was right, things would never be the same. After what they had done, she could never imagine being with another in that way. How could she? They would never amount to him and the feelings he evoked from her.

They had talked in between their episodes of wild, rapturous sex. He tried his best to explain to her his side, although she was surprised to find that he never once blamed anyone but himself. The way his eyes just fell with disappointment and regret stuck in her head, soothing her fear and distrust. And when she couldn't talk anymore, couldn't think anymore, she rode him viciously, fucking all of those pent up emotions out of her body, just as Klein had suggested.

It was a cycle of her listening, and then her shutting him up with a kiss. She used him, and she felt guilty when she realized how often she did this to him. So no one was really innocent in this situation, not Warrick, not Shaya, and especially not Aeress.

There was nothing left to say, and she meant it when she said she was tired of this shit. Her soul couldn't take this bitterness anymore or else it would die, because living with that bitterness meant living without Warrick, and this was something she would not compromise on, not anymore. Because the same as she could never lay with another, she looked at the way which he clung to her so fiercely and was assured that the same went for him.

So even if she couldn't let the pain of all the lying go, she sure as hell was going to find a way to live with it. Not for Warrick or Shaya, but for herself. She knew all along that she couldn't give up either of them, she just had to build the courage up to admit to it.

She looked down at him and felt like crying again. Instead, she laughed.

He looked up at her in question. "What?"

She shook her head as she continuously played with his hair. It was slowly drying from the sweat which drenched his body. "I'm just thinking... What's new?"

He raised up from his position and crawled up against her body so that everything touched. When they were face to face, and she smiled teasingly, he said with all the tension in the world, "and here I thought I fucked your brains out?"

Her breath caught in her throat. She draped her arms over his shoulders and immediately wrapped her legs around him, just where she liked them. "If you're implying that you fucked me stupid, I can attest to that, because for some reason," she pushed his hair back, tracing his lips with her finger, "I want more."

He leaned his lips downward until they were just barely brushing hers. "Wanting me makes you stupid?" She squeezed her thighs together as she got hot all over again.

She dipped her tongue out, tasting him and smiled again. Oh, how delicious he tasted. "Only an idiot would date such a dangerous man."

"You're a dangerous woman, look at what you've done to me, you've got me addicted. Does that make me stupid?"

She nodded and began to rock against him. She couldn't control the urge and didn't want to anyway. "That's true, I do have you wrapped around my finger, don't I?"

He nodded, groaning against her mouth as he parted her thighs with a strong hand and glided into her. Hardness swallowed by liquid heat, pipe blanketed with velvet. She welcomed him, biting down on his shoulder as he sunk all the way into her, just how she liked it.

Okay, so maybe they weren't quite spent?

Aeress rolled over, away from the sex monster. "Okay, enough! Jesus Christ, that should be illegal!"

He was already touching her, nipping at her. She scowled when he gave her that all knowing smirk as her body was already responding. She bit him back in warning. She weakly tried to put some distance between them. "I need a break, I can't feel my lower half!" She laughed.

He chuckled, taking a hold of her and pulling her flush against him. Why did he have to do that?! "But I'm not done."

She shook her head. "Not to kill the mood, but can your dick stay limp for like two seconds please? I'm already sore. Having sex for more than twelve hours straight has worn ya girl out!"

He pouted, he actually pouted! "Fine."

She patted his cheek. "Is little Warrick mad?" She asked an annoying ass baby voice. She couldn't hold back her smile.

Warrick sighed. "No, I'm happy."

She froze and instantly quieted. The sincerity in his face freaked her the hell out. How could she make the king of emotionlessness happy? That was a lot of fucking pressure.

Warrick cradled her face with one of his warm hands. He searched her eyes with uncertainty. "What is it? Overthinking again?"

She couldn't look at him in his eyes, but she did manage a nod.

Aeress liked that he was sympathetic and let the topic drop.

They laid in silence for a little while, just holding each other.

"Warrick?"

"Mmm?" She hadn't realized that he had fallen asleep.

"I need to take a shower, but..." for some reason her cheeks burned. "I don't think I can walk, my legs feel like jelly."

He was up and moving in seconds, as if he wasn't just knocked out. She yelped in surprise as he snatched her out of bed and strolled into the bathroom. She was over his shoulder, and his one palm was pressed firmly into her cheek, where she was sure she had many bruises, thanks to him.

She beat at his back, even pinching his butt in return. Oh, yeah, that was one firm bottom. "I know exactly what you are up to, and that's not what I meant! I did not ask for shower sex!"

"Says who?" He demanded as he started the water.

"Me!"

He moved her body so that her legs were wrapped around his hips and they were face to face. He kissed her and she bloomed with lust. "Oh, why do I bother!"

Her eyes shot open, and she sprung out of bed right as she heard the strange sound. "Warrick!" She screamed, pulling him up right as the entire apartment responded to a great explosion. Then another. Then another. Not as nearly as large as the ones from the attack on her temple. They were warnings.

He was up and dressing in seconds, mostly focused on getting weapons. She dodged just in time as an arrow broke through the the glass of her bedroom window and landed in the wall, just inches above her head. Something on it was blinking. "Bomb!" She screamed.

"GO!" He roared, snatching her and literally tossing her out the window. The glass sliced into her effortlessly.

She had no time to think as she was falling through the air without anything to save her. They were too many floors up for her to land gracefully. With her claws out, she slammed her claws into the outside wall, breaking the stone in the process. This slowed her fall significantly, but not without breaking a couple of her ribs and completely destroying her hand as it was ripped apart and smashed by the brick.

Aeress looked up through the rain as the explosion reached her bedroom window, pushing out billows of fire. "Warrick!" She screamed in panic, watching as he threw himself out.

She gritted her teeth, and knew she had to get her timing just right. And as his falling body passed her, she caught his arm with her free one, shouting in pain as it doubled the strain on her hand, not only that, but she also heard his shoulder pop out of place.

"Drop me!" He commanded. She did, knowing they were only a couple stories up now. Once she was sure he landed, she allowed herself to drop as well. As she landed, she heard Warrick pop his shoulder back in place. She followed suite, grunting as she too put all her misplaced bones back in their place. She was already healing from the abrupt trauma.

It was storming with the coldest breeze. The thunder rumbled, and while at any other time, this would have been relaxing, in that moment... not so much.

"Warrick, what-" She ducked as he pointed a gun at her, and he pulled the trigger as she did this. It immediately satisfied her that he trusted she could keep up.

She inhaled deeply, turning to see as the dead body fell to the floor with a splash. Then she heard the presence of way too many heartbeats in one alleyway.

They were like shadows detaching from complete darkness. They always were.

Aeress and Warrick were surrounded. Two against what looked like a hundred. These people were clearly on a mission, on behalf of someone who she desired dead the most.

They didn't immediately attack.

Aeress and Warrick stood back to back. She summoned her sword and the brilliance of the blue flames were unaffected by the shower from above, if anything, it burned brighter. She raised it, lifting her chin as well. "Well?" She taunted, "let's see you take down the false god!"

Just like that, similar to pulling a trigger, they swarmed them, all at once, ferocious and craving blood.

Aeress roared, revealing her great fangs. She swiped with boundless speed. Warrick did the same. They were back to back, defending each other with their lives. Anything less meant death or worse...

For someone who just woke up, Aeress was doing pretty damn good. That was until it happened.

"What's the matter?" Aeress demanded, kicking someone square in their chest as they charged her. Their sternum cracked under her strength. But then she could smell the fresh scent of Warrick's blood in the air. Someone had managed to sneak up on him.

"Godhead's milk," he gritted out as he fought off a new onslaught of bodies, they were countless. She noticed that his movements took more energy in a matter of seconds. The light of her sword revealed his features were straining with discomfort.

"No!" Aeress tried not to panic, knowing it wouldn't kill him, but it would weaken him and that was the last thing they needed. How the hell did they get their hands on Godhead's Milk? It was nearly impossible to find, but the answer was obvious: Jonah.

She heard it coming, and dodged as the arrow came her way, but thought twice about it when she realized it would hit Warrick right in his spine. She spun just as quickly and caught the arrow, but it sliced through her palm. The poison made its presence known instantly and her muscles buzzed in discourse.

She shoved the arrowhead into her nearest attacker's eye. They collapsed, convulsing as the residual poison destroyed their body. With one long swipe of her sword, she took out three bodies, and they erupted into flames until they were nothing.

Aeress wouldn't allow anyone to get closer to Warrick.

She stepped in front of him several times, and she knew it frustrated him, but if he was poisoned any more, he would die, they both knew it.

"We need help!" she shouted. There were too many, and they were well armed. Having to dodged not only blades but bullets was nearly impossible at this point.

"Aeress, get the fuck out of here!" he roared, shaking the very walls around them. "Now!"

"Fuck you!" she shot back as she stabbed another man straight through the heart. He fell away, unaffected by the flames. It's wasn't the first 'innocent' blood she had spilt, and it was far from the last. "I'm not going anywhere! Are you crazy?"

"Stop!"

Aeress felt the rage pour through her body at the sound of that dreaded voice.

All of them stopped as ordered and formed a circling around Aeress and Warrick. On the ground, dead bodies were scattered. What a gruesome sight and a vile smell.

She raised her sword. "Come out, coward! Show me your face!"

"As you command!" he barked. He was close, she could taste the bitterness of his black soul on her tongue. Her sword brightened as if it was itching to eliminate such a great evil from existence. They were on the same page.

Aeress put a hand on Warrick's arm as she knew his intentions. "Don't."

Her instincts were correct as everyone around them lifted up a bow and arrow, and on the tip of these arrows were large amounts of Godhead's Milk. They were pointed at them from all sides. One wrong move, and Warrick would be dead.

Two men parted and Aeress felt the hair on her skin raise in alarm. She narrowed her eyes on the demon as he finally made himself known.

His head of brown locks were shaved down to a buzz cut and those brown eyes she once recalled were now black. On his mouth was a humongous tattoo, it covered the entire bottom half of his face. It was that of a skeleton's mouth. His skin was pale, old pink, as if from blood which couldn't be washed away. No man ever looked more foul.

He flashed his fangs. His eyes glistened with satisfaction. Something about him was different. Almost distinct for once. He wasn't this forgettable man she remembered, the man she met in the beginning, the man who killed her. He radiated with more power than she had ever encountered. There was this look to him, something her didn't have before: true purpose. "Jonah," she growled.

He raised a brown claw in objection. "Now, now, don't tell me you've forgotten me, already?"

Aeress scowled with disgust. "How could I?"

He chuckled and shook his head. Those black eyes directed themselves at Warrick. "C'mon, something's up right? You're smart, I'll give you time to figure it out, but don't make me wait too long."

"His scent," Warrick said to her without looking away from Jonah, "I know his scent, this isn't his scent. Something's changed."

"Bingo! Not just a hat rack, huh? Can't blame you for the slowness, but you?" he looked to Aeress. "I've gotta say," he pressed his hand to his chest, "I'm a little disappointed in you, you really don't recognize me? I realize my face these days is not up to par, but I tried okay, I really did. C'mon, I'm losing my patience! Not gonna lie, I've been just dying to see your reaction when you finally put two and two together."

She searched for the truth. She inhaled his scent, absorbed it into her body. She listened to his blood, his strong, corrupted heartbeat. She tilted her head and really looked into him, even as it made her sick.

Something was... familiar.

But why?

"I hear they call you Aeress these days," he spoke urgently, "but I've just gotta say, I like Mom much better."

It dawned on her and she felt like the world was closing in on her.

How could she ever possibly forget?

"No!" she screamed in both pain and fury.

His eyes gleamed with an explosion of satisfaction. "Finally! Jesus, for someone who is literally the mother of all werewolves, you can be slow sometimes."

"What's wrong?" Warrick demanded.

"Bakir."

His face fell with denial. "How-"

"Yes, please call me by my true name, the name you gave me, your firstborn. You know, the one you murdered?"

It all came back to Aeress. She vibrated from the violent storm of emotions racing through her body. "Murder!?" Aeresss screeched almost deliriously. She actually began to laugh, which did not please Bakir, of course. "I did not murder you, demon, I destroyed you, I felt your flesh rip to shreds. I drank your blood and shattered your bones until there was nothing left."

He smiled calmly. "Reminds me of what I did to Avathara."

Aeress thought she would die right there. And just a soon as that great depression came over her, it was replaced by unfiltered, untamed rage. She lifted her sword instantly.

All of the men cocked their arrows. This made her pause, even as her body protested fiercely.

"While I know you could take a couple more hits no problem," Bakir stated calmly, he pointed to Warrick, "I'm not sure the same could be said for him. What do you think?"

She looked over at Warrick and the shame of his face made her heart ache. She needed to be strong for the both of them. "Okay," she said, trust me, looking straight into Warrick's eyes, "we'll play your game."
