What's taking you so long?" She asked impatiently, almost snapping at him the moment that he returned, that she watched him rather lavishly and relaxingly as he walked, and as his foot padded on the piles of snow that his boots treaded hard, and almost sinking a bit but lifted up the moment it sunken slightly.

She was quite amazed, she had to admit.

But it didn't explain what took him so long to find a single ride, and the nerve to leave her alone for hours on the freezing, snowy sidewalk. Which she looked at her tiny wrist-watch just to be about an hour or so. She was embarrassed to admit. As she looked away, but glanced at him as he was coming closer.

"I'm sorry." Was the first thing he said as he approached to her wrapped up figure.
He was quite glad to look at her. To see her, and to him, all he saw was her standing by the sidewalk surrounded by snow and tiny piles of frosted flakes which was what made his heart warm. It made him warm all over. All the way to the core.

Nonetheless, she saw him not bringing anything in both of his hands, and so she asked, "You didn't bring anything?"

"No. I couldn't find the shop." He ran a hand through his hair lightly, "I'm sorry, I couldn't buy you a scarf." He spoke. Looking at her.

"That's okay." She replied. He had not a single godly idea of how cold she felt, or how on the verge of a closeness she was to freezing. Or maybe just feeling a little bit chilly at the moment.

"So, what are we going to do now?" She looked up. She was starting to feel helpless standing for hours at the sidewalk. The daredevil of a man who left her alone and almost got eaten by some vampires. She did not, though.

"I was hoping to find the cheapest, quickest cab to get to the house, but it seemed impossible and my mobile doesn't seem to be working; it seemed to be dead, so the only way was to come back here." He spoke quietly.
"And the signal seemed to be stronger around this city. Maybe I shouldn't have wasted my time." He spoke, gathering an arm around himself and rubbing it slightly.

And maybe you should have taken me with you and not fend on your own. Her mind thought out.

"Oh." She replied flatly, her expression not changing, staring at the road before her.

"But in any case, I should be getting some signal right about now, and it should be easy to call a cab." He added, to her relief.

And to him that she looked, she looked to be quite amused at his part of speech, "I couldn't find the signal.. And it took forever to book a cab. We should stay in a hotel soon enough, and relax our bodies while we get the time. You could take a warm shower. Or even a bath tub. Once we get there you might want to take a shower and get some sleep. Hopefully we'll reach my house by tomorrow. And hopefully get a cab soon." He muttered at the end. He was met with silence. And he peeked a glance and saw her making a grumpy, pouting face at him.

That was a bad news to see.

"Even though it might be all dusty.." He muttered under his breath, almost inaudible, but she heard him through her ears. As he tweaked his phone and pressed all the buttons that he knew of.

To which he replied at her pouting face as he glanced at her again, "I'm sorry, but it's just not possible to reach my house right at the moment by sundown. Things could get a lot.. freezy in here." He said, with a weird part of speech that he just sputtered which shocked her, to her core, but it was not that shocking.

"It would take a while for us to get to the house, and the quickest way is for us is to rent a hotel. The taxis here have a.. time limit." He added.

"What." She asked blankly.

"A hotel."

It was not more than a question of what she just said.

My house would not be reachable at this hour. Look, it's about 5 right now and taxis in this city don't reach at about 3 hours straight." He said, showing his rather large watch as she gazed down, and he almost sighing loudly at her cold, and untearing gaze.

She gave him a suspicious eye. "You want me to sleep in a hotel."

"Yes." He looked at her, "Don't worry, I'll make sure to buy two beds." He muttered. And glanced down at his phone again and making sense of what he was doing, as she observed him from the side.

She sighed softly, "You're unbelievable.

"We could get eaten by wolves." He mere stated.

She gasped softly. Almost undramatically at the words that he just said.

"Don't worry. As long as we get a hotel and a place to stay, we should be just fine." He handed her a warm, but slickly smile as he gazed at her.

"You better." She mumbled. Quite distracted by the weather herself, as she let it slide. This time.

"Oh it turned back on." He suddnely said, quotedly and clicked on his phone and his eyes mirrored the screen at which it lit up.

"Have you finished your berries?" He spoke after awhile, looked up slightly from the screen as he glanced back down.

"Berries?" She asked.

"Yes, berries." He spoke.

"Oh. I don't remember.." To which she just remembered that she did take a short sit at the side, leaving the plastic bag next to the pole from such an annoyance at the man she just wanted to flung it across the sidewalk. But she couldn't, or it would smash against the glass and would get her in trouble; so she just smacked it onto the snow, and here she was forgetting about it.

She glanced, and there it was, laying all alone and almost buried by snow. She hoped he hadn't noticed.

"I haven't." She quickly said, and walked over to the side, and picked it up.

"Sure." He answered absentmindedly, with a furrow on his eyebrows that he spoke.

She came back to his side, stood, she didn't even think about eating those berries. They must've gotten cold, and she wouldn't be interested in eating it right now.

And he stepped closer to the side, over to almost close by her ribs. And the only thing that popped into her head was how warm he must've been from taking a long walk, and comfortable, it might have seemed. She observed, as she watched him playing with his phone with a rather amusement tingle playing on his face. And she had a string of jealousy forming in her chest. Why does he have to always get the calls?

She looked away and almost pouted when he bumped into her. Almost unaccidentally, and it was so soft but it also made her almost stumble over. As her body swayed and she regained balance on her feet.

If looks could kill.

She breathed out, and as she waited in silence, the man playing with his phone and typing all sorts of nonsense that the sounds made, she saw a person coming by.

A vampire. Her mind called out first, which she was annoyed at.

But the moment that they made eyes she almost cowered in fear. This one was yellow. As the books said, they were kind and they'd be graceful to protect vampires.

But this one had a fierce scowl on his mouth as he was very far away, but it was almost as if he could reach her, with his clothes all black and slightly jaggy, maybe slightly torn from the condition of it. And she didn't want to look any longer. As he bared his fangs, and she was struck at the unsightly that he just made.

She stumbled, and she was struck with a delusional shock to the core.

To the side: where Cain stood at.
Towards the stumble of her feet, and a tribute towards her toe-covered-shoes as she fell to the side.

Stumbling as she went into his arms; again, for the countless times that she had done throughout her life that she had lost count. And she was embarrassed, and wished that it was the man instead, who would fall, stumble, and who would rash into the pole instead. He alone seemingly strong all together. As she looked up and gazed at   another pole in the mere distance lighted out at the sidewalk. Out of pure, reasonable reasons.

As he held her tight, and strong. Her warm hands covering her shoulders like it was some sort of blanket around her physique. It made her warm. But none of too over the top.

She scowled, but it all seemed to be a small pout.

"Careful, there are a few vampires out here."

To which it struck her that he had not informed her about it. Sooner. Nor did she ever hears of it from his mouth of his. And that he did- gave her the most charming smile, the most confidential of a confidence he had always have; And she looked at him as if he was mental. Insane maybe.

In a moment that he moved and nudged her slightly, she wanted to move away. But as she felt the warmth creeping to her cheeks, she had no choice: but of that she panicked and searched for the plastic bag that she was hanging on to: in her left hand. In panick, as she grabbed onto the piece of brownie that she grabbed, and opened oh-so easily, it tragically fell. It jumped and slipped out of her hands which seemed to be sweaty and full of sticky dews. And onto the ground that it fell with an almost tragic accident.

She stared at it. Almost to a cry; a whimper that didn't come out, and ignoring the brownie that she hadn't eaten or even tasted for the very first time. The one that she opened, and how it tragically fell onto the ground, covered in snow and maybe bloisters of ice as it rained down on it. And she stared at it, of its shape. The distress and a downfall, until she noticed the packet of berries lying inside. The one the man mentioned but never even bothered to open.

She rummaged. And she saw; a packet of berries.

As she grabbed, and plucked it open, she saw a big one and happily popped it into her mouth. The juice of the single berry bursted and it spreaded joy inside her mouth. So another one, that she took, which mistakenly to be quite large for her mouth, and so she bit it. Took a bite at almost half of it that she tasted the sweet taste of the berry.

Not long after, she felt the feeling of the juices running along her lips. Following along the lines and the cracks of her lips, to which she knew and imagined, it would be brimming with redness.

Blood.

It tasted divine.

Sweet, that she tasted, that she almost couldn't contain her smile that she popped another one into her mouth as she felt it crunch and its pulp burst into juices. The crunchy, sweet as sugar berries were divine in her mouth. And the fragrance made her want to buy a whole box of it. And maybe take it home. When she reached back to her own room, she might want to take it down to the fridge; might seem the best option.

As she felt a pair of eyes watching her. She turned and saw him staring. Suddenly, that she saw a slight blush crept up to his cheeks. Caught him, as his blooded veins which he didn't seem to have any.

Cain, as a vampire; it was unimaginable to think that he even had blood.

As she looked away in response, and him having no words to come out of his stuttered mind.

It was a surprise. For her. And to Cain, that he had just witnessed her smudging her own lips of which he wanted to kiss, wishing she would just wipe her own lips damning him, and to think that he looked away and reacted that way.

As he gave a small breath of a sigh. As he stared at the scene across him. And he saw the two figure of them standing together. Him, quite tall, while Averithe was short of stature. She almost didn't reach his shoulder and she seemed too cute to be true. To exist. That he almost wanted to hug her and carry her to a bed motel and see her sleep in it.

And he blamed his own berries that he had just bought, and apparently, let in into the country, imported into the marketplaces, of where he thought would be fitting and mostly would be sold in the specific area; and distributed along the towns of the country.

He regretted it;

As she noticed, that she saw him blush, she too, looked away, and wondered what the man was thinking, and what the man was doing, standing so close to her, and whether he was crazy.

That it made her feel insane, as it slightly clogged up her throat when she wanted to ask, or speak to him.

And she slightly smiled. Slightly. Quietly and unevident on her lips.

As she felt a pair of eyes on her and she turned to see him staring, at his eyes that glowed a deep red and that he turned, unexpectedly.

And all be thought was that she saw him. Him, having showed her his red eyes,

and of that he didn't want to show any longer.

"I'm not afraid." She spoke, looking up.

It seemed to be awfully dark --  darker than usual. She observed. It was the second time she had ever seen it. Unfortunately looking up, and a simultaneous motion, caught him a glare, which turned out to be a glaze in his eyes, a slight glaze of worry and a slight sadness. She recognized. Of what she felt a flutter in her stomach, and a pleasant feeling --  of a mature feeling;
love.

He wanted to hug her. To snake a hand around her waist, to hug her, pull her even closer to him. And hold her tight in a hugging grasp.

Which all seemed to good to be true, like a dream.

The silent, subtle gesture, as he silently grunted, the forefathers of an image, of her lips, red and wafted with the red fruit he saw that he saw her eating to be alluring. And playing in the back of his mind, he swerved automatically closer, and he bumped into him; against her body that he felt it to be so small and soft. And he wondered where'd all that food go that she ate.

It made him weak in the knees.

And at the moment she wondered how uncomfy it was to snuggle up against a man in his thick clothes and winter wools, just as she was wearing a double-layer clothing and her comfy shoes, she thought of nothing at the moment.

Until a cab pulled up.

Came up suddenly from her side of the road and pulled to a stop.

"Need a ride?" The driver offered.

"To the motel of Bougaîn, please." Cain spoke.

She wanted to say something; something against it. But it was all too quick to protest as he walked up and got into the car, as he left the door open.

And she was left with no choice as she felt the radiated warmth from inside the cab. And she had no words to reply or describe what she was feeling; or what she wanted. To which she walked up and joined him, closing the door of the cab.

She would have to come to scold of him later. For not informing her that they'd have to rent a hotel room, for goodness sake's. For leaving her that long, And for not caring enough to take her with him during his search, and now his fatigue and his now tiredness.
She would have definitely have to.
Maybe in the hotel room; her brimming nerves was sure of it.
