This photo is all I'm living for at the moment.

It had become quite dark since the incident. The soft chirp of crickets could be heard everywhere we went. Cold air crept under my jumper like water through an open tap. Nothing but darkness swallowed the sky, only the dim light of the moon guiding us. When the ground beneath me was no more, I caught my balance before tumbling down the hill. I looked over to Marcus expecting him to be silently laughing at my almost tragedy, but instead his face was drenched in horror. My heart sunk as I saw the colour of red reflect off his eyes. I snapped my head in Lee's direction to see that he had already sped into the corn field. I winced as a familiar burning sensation erupted through my hands. This time, it was far worse. It felt as if my hands were melting at the very highest temperature. This new level of pain forced me to fall from my standing position. The tall grass now stood, towering over my almost limp body.

Marcus dropped to his knees beside me and pulled me closer to his side. He couldn't sign anything to me because of the shadows cast by the overgrown blades of nature.

"[y/n] what's wrong?" He whispered, trying not to draw unwanted attention.

The overwhelming sensation distracted me from his words. Marcus's voice became muffled as ringing pieced my hearing. He shook my shoulders, begging for a response. I felt my body being lifted from the damp soil. Marcus held me firmly within his arms, carrying me bridal style to the barn.

Marcus POV

We approached the top of the hill. I guess [y/n] was in her own world since she almost tumbled down the slope. I looked away, trying to contain my laugh. Suddenly, father ran down the hill and that's when I saw it..

A luminous red glow from each light bulb.

Reaching my hands out, I grabbed hold of [y/n] but something was wrong. She had fallen to the ground, almost looking deathly like. She was holding her hands close to her chest as small whines of pain escaped her lips. I looked back over to the corn field and saw dad reach the end. He was headed into the house.

"I need to get [y/n] to safety." I thought as I slid one arm under her legs and the other under her back. Lifting her with ease, I instantly made my way down the hill and through the corn field.

I almost reached the end of the field when I heard rustling from behind me. I didn't turn to look since it was too dark to see much. With [y/n] unconscious in my arms I couldn't make a run for it. I quickly ducked down next to the tractor and carefully placed [y/n] behind the back wheel. I sat with as little noise as possible, lifting [y/n]'s head onto my lap so that she was somewhat comfortable. I didn't take into consideration that my bag was only resting on one of my shoulders and not both. I mentally face palmed as it slid from its position and landed with a thud. I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for my head to be torn from my body. When nothing happened, I hesitantly opened my eyes.

A tall, dark blurry figure was towering over [y/n] and I. I thought it was father until I made the mistake of moving. The black outline dropped to all four legs. It lingered around us, as if it was playing with prey. Slowly, I moved Infront of [y/n] with small attempts to distract it from her. The only question on my mind right now was why it hasn't attacked yet. It clearly knows where we are. The creature steadily crawled towards me. This situation made the moon's light even more eerie when the creature positioned itself among the moon's luminescence, revealing a slime ridden, flesh eating Death Angel. Never in my life had I been this close to a Death Angel. Without warning, the creature bared it's claws above my head, landing a harsh blow across my skull. The force shoved me into the side of the tractor as I fell to the mixture of grass and soil. I used the rest of my strength to drag [y/n]'s unconscious body close to mine. I cried out, seeing the Death Angel inches away from my face. Tension building up by the second. Audible growls erupted constantly from the monster as it examined us.

I was surprised when it unexpectedly straitened up and frantically scanned the corn field. It was as if something else had caught its attention. I noticed a feminine figure stumble through a gap in the plants. As she moved closer to the Death Angel, it screeched in agony and took off into the meadowland. I sighed in relief, my grip slightly adjusting around [y/n], making sure not to hurt her. I let my head rest onto the ground as I felt my consciousness slip into a state of darkness. Only one question remained in my mind.

Why didn't it kill [y/n] and I.

AU- Yay another big chapter! Thank you all for being patient with me. I really do appreciate it.
