Finally a real story for me to post on here! So anyway here is my first story. I dedicate this to my best friend Karrishea who introduced me to this site. Sinking Friendships by Jonsi seeing how this part went. So yeah anyways my first story. More will be up later. Enjoy!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

                                                                              Jake

I was saying goodbye to my two best friends just fifteen minutes before the movers finished boxing the rest of my things away. Everyone else choose to stay away because they weren’t very good with goodbye’s.

“Here’s my number,” Rose, a dark brown haired with green eyes (yes we all found that weird at first too) was saying in front of me.

“I have your number,” I stated, “we text nearly everyday.”

Rose dramatically placed her right hand on her hip glaring at me and told me, “Phone’s these days don’t last and you could loose my number.”

“Surrogate,” my other best friend Pete pushed her to the side which she scoffed at.

Pete wore glasses for the past two weeks now. Yeah, you can guess the rest. He was also the tallest of us all.

“Pal,” he started up which Rose and I rolled our eye’s at knowing what was coming, “Buddy, you have my Facebook. Rose does too so no worries.”

He made a snatch for the paper which I pulled out of the way just in time.

Pete acted like he didn’t notice and turned to Rose, “Really woman, there’s no need to get all PMS over it.”

SLAP!

I ducked my head feeling the wind of her fury. It brought back a couple of personal memories.

“Don’t call me that!”

Pete stayed wise at being silent.

Rose peeked around his shoulder with a grin that showed her teeth.

“Jake,” she said speaking through her teeth, “Remember, text, call me?”

“Oh I will. I’ll miss you the most!”

Pete shot me a look of disbelief.

Well Rose’s anger was eminent to all who knew her best.

Rose walked forward and for a moment I thought I was next. Pete snickered and I was embraced into a tight hug.

“We knew each other since middle school,” she sobbed now, “back when I was new and didn’t know anybody.”

I hugged her back all the while rubbing her back.

How did I feel about leaving my homeland? The feeling was oddly numb. I knew that time was running out.

“Maybe someday I’ll be able to visit. You never know.”

This just made her sob just a bit harder.

I looked over at Pete’s face which was looking pretty grim for Pete. I knew him since the fifth grade. He was rather unwelcome at first but he grew on me.

“So let’s stay in contact yeah?”

“Of course.”

“Jake,” I heard my mom call out for me.

I heaved a dramatic sigh and Rose let go.

“You guys walk me to the car?”

They both nodded.

The sun was bright so it didn’t like a day for any sadness. Yet somehow for my friends…

“Well I already said my goodbyes to everyone else earlier today,” I said now walking.

There was a gentle breeze in the tree’s nearby as I tried to take in my childhood street. The corner to the left was where I scrapped my knee after falling off my bike. This was also the street I ran around with all my childhood friends. Some of the elderly couples referred to us as a gang. Whether that was a good thing or bad was still a mystery.

I passed up the tree where I dug holes up to bury my toy cars in. Maybe the people who moved in here next would have kids who might dig them up someday.

Rose and Pete were arguing behind me when I came around to the front yard to meet up with my parents. My mom with her dark hair tangled around her face as she turned her head to look at me. She smiled in a way that was supposed to be reassuring. I only smiled back to return the gesture. My dad with his sleeves rolled up carried a box over to the moving van. Most of what we needed had already been shipped to the new house.

“Tell Grandma hi for us,” Pete stepped up to my left.

“Pete,” I said putting an arm over his shoulder, “I may never understand you but you’ve been a really good friend.”

Pete bobbed his head around. I could tell all I did was inflate his ego.

“I’m going to miss having you around raiding my refrigerator,” I finished.

“Yeah now he’s got mine,” Rose rolled her eye’s.

“Keep everybody in line for me,” I told Rose.

“Will do.”

Soon as we reached the car, willingly or not, my mom rushed me into the car. I tried not to tear up since crying was really my thing. It wasn’t hard to maintain since the finality of the feeling still hadn’t hit yet.

“There will be a two hour difference right?” Pete asked just before my dad turned the engine on.

I nodded fearing my words might break me down.

Both my parents were ecstatic as we left our two bedroom, one bathroom, and small living room home. I tried not to look back at the scene which had my two best friends waving at me from the driveway. My heart lurched. Now it felt real.

I waved back none the less accepting the change because this change couldn’t be so bad. Could it?

There was Rose’s hair whipping in the wind and the sunlight had swallowed her up first. Pete was next so all I could see was just the silhouettes of their figures. My was already on her cell phone talking my grandmother animatedly. It was such a beautiful day with barely any clouds in the sky. This was probably the last time I was ever going to look at the street but I just watched my two best friends instead until we turned a corner.

“I’ll miss you guys,” I said mostly to myself.

After a few days of driving we finally arrived.

~~~~~~~~~There you have it readers! This is just the start of something that has taken me months that started out as a short story to myself. Though that part wont be out until much later. I am still in the process of tweaking a few things for the next upcoming chapters. I have yet to come up with a cast and book cover yet. And if any of you have any good idea's who could play Jake please let me know.
Until then for Jake's love interest Keahu Kahuanui inspired this version of Danny. I am still pretty new to being an author on here. Anyways don't worry there is still much more to come.
