Savannah's eyes shot open in alarm. She couldn't move her body! Still in her slightly sleepy state, she tried again to thrash around, forcing what seemingly to be a heavy weight off her body.

Savannah stopped for a moment, she blinked her eyes to adjust to the faint light coming from the dashboard car. As her eyes finally regained its eyesight back, she frantically looking around.

Suddenly, a loud scream was heard throughout the entire region, scaring a few birds away as they flew from the trees nearby.

Mr. Hernandez's own eyes shot awake upon the noise, he immediately went into action as he frantically exited the passenger seat and forced open the car backseat.

Two person stumbled out of the car, Savannah luckily was on top of the much bigger man, so that her small frame wouldn't get crushed.

Savannah groaned as she tried to stand up. The man below her struggled to pull his body up as well, looking at the two people in front him with alarm as he could only stood still in his place. Savannah shot him an annoyed look, cleaning her clothes from any dirt that clung into the piece fabric.

Mr. Hernandez assess the man in front of them. Judging by his appearance, he may be a homeless man. His clothes was torn on some places as dirt clung into his skin. He didn't even bother cleaning himself like Savannah did from their fall to the forest ground just now.

"Who are you?" Mr. Hernandez got a frown into his face, his expression was hard as he tried to interrogate the stranger.

The man looked nervous, he didn't even dare to lift his eyes to meet with Mr. Hernandez's. Savannah didn't know what to do about the whole situation. She just gazed back and forth between the two of them, frowning.

The man still didn't answer as Mr. Hernandez stern voice was heard again, demanding the dirty looking man to answer his question. Savannah who was standing near the man suddenly heard a small growl of stomatch. She flickered her eyes at the homeless man, who looked like he wanted to rub his empty stomatch.

Savannah felt a pang of pity. She imagined if he was her own father, and...

Savannah shook her head. Out of nowhere, she suddenly dragged the man into the car, surprising everyone that was present there, even herself. But, that still didn't stop her.

Mr. Hernandez followed suit, a bit surprised to what she was doing, was she that crazy? This man practically came out of nowhere with no certain identity and he could be a criminal or a murderer for all he knew.

He shot her a look, but Savannah didn't care to look at him even the slightest. The man's face held surprise and gratefulness as he accept Savannah's bag of biscuit. He nodded vehemently, smiling at her.

Savannah felt a sudden of warmth seeping into her entire body. She was smiling genuinely right now. That bag of biscuit wasn't a big deal to her, but this man accept it with so much gratefulness that made her felt touched.

Mr. Hernandez just silent the entire time. Then, he just sighed, letting the man to stay inside his car, although still keeping the watchful eyes on his figure. He didn't even mind the dirt that would smear in his leathered seat. His nephew often dirtied it anyway.

Savannah was also back leaning on her back, relaxing herself as she watched the man eating happily.

"Do you mind telling me your identity, Sir?" Mr. Hernandez tried again, this time the words sounded more polite.

The stranger stopped eating for a moment, then he shook his head. Mr. Hernandez frowned at him, he glanced up at Savannah who was wearing a confused expression. The man gestured towards his throat, shaking his head again.

"I think, either he was mute or he got  some really severe throat problem," Savannah stated as the man nodded along with her words, confirming it.

Mr. Hernandez just nodded. "Very well then."

Savannah just realized something. They were in the middle of a forest! It can clearly be seen by the tall trees surrounding them as the moon shined upon their surrounding.

Savannah's hair on the back of her neck stood up instantly, watching the eyes of night creatures roaming around. She even caught a sight of an owl staring at them with intimidating yellow big eyes.

"Mr. H-hernandez," Savannah stutter a bit. She loved beating people, but when it came to ghosts and those mysterious creatures lurking in the dark, she just couldn't help herself not to feel scared. "What are we doing in the middle of this place?"

Savannah rubbed her neck. Mr. Hernandez's lip set into a straight line. He began to explain the situation. "We are running out of the car's fuel. There are no choice beside waiting till morning, where we can get some gasoline from the village nearby."

Savannah cringed at the situation she was in. She swore that she would retaliate to David Newman as soon as they get back. No doubt, that boy was probably lying comfortably somewhere on the bed while hugging his spongebob pillow.

Savannah was suddenly missing her cat. She wanted to snuggle with the ball of fur, wrapped themselves inside the warm blanket.

"O-okay then." Savannah reluctantly muttered.

"We can only sleep here right now," Mr. Hernandez had gotten himself into a comfortable position, but before he close his eyes, he gave the hobo man a warning look. "I have been kind enough to let you stay here. So, don't you dare to try anything. There are some wolves out there ready to snack on your flesh if you ever thinking of stealing and running away from us."

Darn, that was the longest speech she ever heard from him. Savannah just nodded along with the hobo man as he gulped, but his eyes held sincerity.

Savannah immediately closed her eyes, once again letting the realm of sleep taking over her body.

*****

They were disturbed by the sound of something move around the bushes quite noisily. Savannah rubbed the remnant of sleep from her eyes, gazing at her surrounding after realizing that she wasn't the only one who was woken up by that sound.

Geez, she hated it when her sleeps were disturbed. She would get grumpy and snappy.

Savannah noticed that the atmosphere had changed drastically. It was a bit cold, chilling to her bones that she rubbed her hands together to get some warm. Outside, the sound of night creatures were getting more noisily, including the one on the bushes.

She was suddenly felt very awake, eyes gazed at her surrounding warily as her heart was beating rapidly in her chest. The hair in the back of her neck stood up. Instinctively, her hand shot up to rub the place.

The sound in the bushes was getting louder by seconds, irritating as well as nerve wrecking. Luckily, her two companion were also wide awake. She wouldn't have known what to do in this kind of situation.

Savannah glanced at the both of them. Mr. Hernandez was frowning while the hobo man looked creeped out. Savannah nudged the hobo man slightly, whispering that words that she hoped only the three of them could heard, "Can you check it?"

His eyes widened instantly. Then, he shook his head furiously at Savannah's suggestion. Savannah hummed slightly to ease the tension.

She glanced briefly at her boss', continuing her humming which just added the creepiness to the condition. "I heard that  forest is usually the place where those..."

Savannah didn't continue her word. She frowned, then continued, "My college friend who had ever went to camping in a forest said that he often disturbed by a certain lady with long white dress and hair. Her face was so scary ... glaring eyes, rotten flesh, and splattered blood."

Savannah stopped for a moment to add to the effect. "He said that she followed him everywhere after that. Popping in the bathroom, creeping up his bedroom ceiling ... stating that the creepy lady want to be together with him."

"So, if any of you going to be disturbed after this trip, it is certainly by a lady with scary fa-"

She was cut off by a hand covering her mouth. The hobo man was practically shaking at her story. Mr. Hernandez glowered at her as he kept his hand on her mouth, "Shut up!"

Savannah immediately shut her mouth. Oh, she just made the situation even five times more scary! The noise still didn't stop. If that even possible, it was getting louder.

She glanced at Mr. Hernandez sheepishly. They were silence for around ten minutes before Savannah turned towards him. They couldn't sleep if the voice kept irritating them. "Do you ... erm ... mind checking the voice, Mr. Hernandez?"

She only received a vicious glare that made her sunk even further to her seat. She hold her hands up in surrender, "Okay, okay, you don't wanna."

A few seconds passed. Then, Savannah muttered lowly and smiled mischievously, "You are also scared..."

Despite the situation, she was also enjoying this.

"You are the one scared," he retorted back, scoffing.

Savannah raised her eyebrow. "I never said that I am not scared, so do you?"

The hobo man was glancing back and forth between the two people while trying to sink further into his seat.

Mr. Hernandez didn't answer, but he had an angry frown on his face, jaw clenched as his lips set into straight line.

Savannah didn't know that she would see the day where her almighty, arrogant, and strictly annoying boss got scared. She hold back the a snicker.

They were silence again afterward. Savannah was suddenly scared again, the light atmosphere --at least only for her--  created by her not so funny story was gone.

The voice was getting on her nerves. They wouldn't get any sleep if they were going to stay awake the entire night.

Until she heard her boss commanded, "You are going to accompany me checking that noise."

Savannah's eyes wide as saucers. Before she could reject it, Mr. Hernandez had gotten out, and now dragging the frozen woman with him. Savannah gulped at the tall intimidating trees around them. She hoped that she wasn't shaking right now, or worse, peeing in her pants.

"M-mr. H-hernandez," she stuttered as he continued to drag her to the moving bushes with his death grip, the other hand was holding a lamp. Savannah tried to get away with no avail.

What seemed like forever, they finally arrived in front of the bushes. Savannah closed her eyes as Mr. Hernandez opened the thick plants. She didn't dare to look.

She counted, one to three, waiting for any scary lady to jump at them.

One.

Two.

Three.

Still nothing.

Savannah opened her eyes. She gasped as she pulled her hand away from Mr. Hernandez death grip, backed away.

Oh gosh, I hope this part is scary enough!

I want to write horror story someday.

Guess this ended with cliffhanger, till the next chapter readers!
