"Let's go." Adrian dragged him excitedly after he exited the car, tugging on his sleeves.

Lucas followed the kid's lead as he carefully walked to the familiar house. Adrian had been nagging him to bring him to visit Savannah's house. He couldn't help but give in to the little boy's endless chattering.

He knocked to the tightly closed house. For a moment doubting whether there were people in the house or not. He waited. When none was answering, he knocked once again.

The one opening the door wasn't Savannah as he someho expeted her to be. It was an old lady with hair fully white. A kind expression on her face as she regarded Lucas with a surprised look.

After a moment, he noticed Adrian who was anxiously hanging on Lucas's arm. She smiled kindly at the little boy.

"Are you coming here to visit Amara? I heard from Janette that Amara has gotten a friend lately." She then moved her attention to Lucas. "And who is this gentleman? Are you the kid's father?"

Lucas was a bit taken aback by her warm welcome. He guessed that the old lady didn't really know who he was and what happened back then. If she did, she probably wouldn't even smile at him like that.

Lucas gave her a polite smile and replied. "I am this boy's uncle, Madam. I am here to bring him to visit his friend."

"Ah, let's go in then. I will make you two a tea." The old lady said while opening the door wider. She entered the house, gesturing the both of them to follow her.

Lucas followed her, slightly anxious for no reason. He had put Adrian down so that he can walk on his own.

"Sit, make yourself comfortable." The grandma said. "Unfortunately the kid and both her mother is sleeping right now."

The old lady disappeared to the kitchen.

Savannah was sick. Lucas had known that since she had taken a leave for today. That was also why the grandma who was usually absent had decided to come back home today.

Now that the grandma was the one to entertain him, Lucas felt a bit awkward. He also somehow couldn't help the sudden expectation and relief, they mixed into one, creating an indescribable feeling. Yet, he was still disappointed slightly.

"Here, have some tea." The grandma came back after a few moments. The quiet Adrian perked up, he accepted the cup of the tea politely as Lucas did. He copied his uncle's mannerisms.

The grandma opened the curtains to let some light into the house. Then, she sat across the two.

Lucas took a sip as not to waste the old lady's hard work, feeling the slightly bitter taste into his tongue slowly being washed away.

"What's this little boy's name? He seemed to be in the same age as Amara." The grandma broke the silence.

"My name is Adrian." The boy answered quickly when the old lady asked for his name.

"What a smart boy." The grandma smiled. "Amara is such a shy kid. It's good that she is getting a friend now. Very much like Savannah when she was little."

Lucas's ear perked up slightly at the mention of Savannah.

"Ah, how did the two kids met?" The grandma asked curiously.

Lucas was hesitating how to answer it, but he finally decided to inform her of his relation with Savannah.

"I am the leader of the company which Miss Easton is currently working at." Lucas hadn't noticed that he had bitten his lips. "The two met when we accidentally encounter each other outside. They seemed to get along pretty well after that."

The grandma had a surprised look on her face. "You are Savannah's superior? Are you also coming to visit her? That child is currently taking a rest right now."

"That's not a problem, Madam. I came here not to disturb Miss Easton's rest. I just want to express my wish for her fast recovery as well." Lucas continued with his words.

He didn't know what to do if the old lady really had called her right now.

"Grandmaaa, you said you wanted to show Mommy's picture today." A cute girl with a sweet, small voice suddenly appeared in the room. She yawned sleepily, a sign that the little thing had just woken up. When she found that there were other people besides her grandma, her face turned slightly red.

She hid behind her grandma. Amara blinked when she noticed that the familiar Adrian was there. She smiled shyly at him, who looked at her back with a grin.

The grandma was slightly taken aback. "We have guests here. Are you still want to see them?"

Amara pouted and nodded persistently, her eyes full of expectation.

"Alright then." The grandma could only sigh seeing the little girl's persistency. If she had refused her, this little turnip head was probably going to accuse her of lying later.

The grandma looked at Lucas apologetically. "I am sorry for my little great-granddaughter's behavior."

"It's not a problem at all." Lucas gave a reassuring smile.

The grandma pulled several albums of photos. She picked one and gave it to Amara. "Here, you look like your mother so much."

Amara looked happy as she received the album, smiling that her eyes turned into crescents. It was the smallest of the album collections, out of the consideration that this cute little thing probably wouldn't be able to carry those heavy albums.

"Go, play together." The grandma said to the two.

Amara, who was busy about to open the album looked up to her grandma and blinked. A moment later she nodded while gesturing to Adrian, who had shining eyes.

The way she carried the album made it accidentally opened.

"Is it too heavy for you?" Grandma asked worriedly. Adrian waited no more as he supported the other side of the album.

Adrian gave a thumbs up. Amara looked at her grandma and shook her head. The two children walked away.

Now, there were only two people in the room. The grandma and Lucas, who had frozen, rooted to the spot.

There was a photo accidentally fallen to the floor. The small figure in the photo was somehow familiar. All too familiar.

Lmao, guess who is back. Sigh, I finally had an 'inspiration' to continue this story. My fellow authors have completed stories, while I don't even have one. And that makes me sounds like a fake author.

By the way, let this author do a shameless promotion again :((

Here is also another story about rejection and regrets!

The Girl Who Refuses the Alpha

There's nothing certain in this world. When two people were supposed to be together, are they what really is called soulmates?

The moment Mirabella accidentally stumbled upon the famous Alpha, Jason Langton in the library, the first words he was spouting was about rejecting her.

What did she do?

"Well, I reject you too." Mirabella said playfully, not the slightest bit bothered.

Her words and reaction caused him to be stunned. He was caught in a trance for a moment. When he looked up again, she was no longer standing before him.

He found her figure trying to reach for a book in one of the shelves. It seemed that the book is more important than the matters of him rejecting her?

Rejected by an Alpha?

For her, wasn't it just mutual rejection? He rejected her, she was just returning the favor!

As the ice meet another ice, are they really compatible?

If you are wondering, is this author's purpose for updating is to promote her new books?

Err... yesn't...
