"Rashir...bro you good?" Rashir heard Nico ask on the other side of his bedroom door. He looked at the damage he had done to his room. Another hole in the wall and his knuckles were now split open and bleeding.

He cleared his throat before replying "Yeah I'm straight." He heard the doorknob jiggle for a couple of seconds before his bedroom door opened and revealed Nico standing there with a concerned expression on his face. How did he do that? Rashir could of swore he locked the door.

"Nah you not bro, what's going on?" Nico asked him while looking at the hole in the wall. There had been many times Rashir had gotten angry and took to beating his wall because of video games or pent-up frustration, but this time he looked stressed which worried Nico.

"It's just my Dad fucking pestering me, as usual." Rashir sighed while running his hands through his hair. He made his way to his en-suite bathroom and began to wash his hands while looking for the first aid kit he stored under the sink.

"What did he say this time?" Nico asked him cautiously, afraid he was going to get worked up again, Nico knew Rashir and his father's relationship was a very sore subject.

"He keeps reminding me to stay focused on basketball every goddamn day. Every time he calls it's always 'How's practice going?' and whenever I don't answer him he just calls from my Mom's phone to ask."  he replied agitated.

Rashir Martin was a basketball prodigy as most people liked to say. His Mom had enrolled him in a basketball team when he was just 8 and from then on the entire town knew he was going somewhere. He started playing with away teams, winning small tournaments, and was getting recognized by coaches all over the country by the age of 17. Rashir grew up in a low-income part of Silver Spring, Maryland with both of his parents and 3 sisters Patience, Janiya, and Nijhea. Patience was the oldest of the 4 siblings at 25 while Nijhea and Heaven were both in high school.

Both of his parents worked low-paying jobs and could barely afford to send Rashir to the camps his basketball coaches recommended them. His father saw Rashir as a way out of poverty and was determined to turn Rashir into an NBA basketball star. Rashir had to deal with him constantly checking up on him and asking his coaches what he could do to help him improve. Last year Rashir's coach got annoyed with his antics and ended up blocking his father's number.

Rashir thought it was hilarious until his father resorted to calling him twice as much to make up for the lost communication.

"When are you just gonna block his number bruh?" Nico asked him while shaking his head at his hot-headed friend.

"I can't, he'll tell my mom that I'm ignoring him or just show up here and Ion need him doing that right now," Rashir finished disinfecting his knuckles and went back into his bedroom. "Why you still here anyway? I thought you and Matt was going to that bar near campus," He changed the subject, not wanting to talk about his father anymore.

"We were just about to leave until we heard you goin' all Hulk up in here," Nico smirked at him. "We finna dip though, you tryna come? If you do, hurry up cause Nala's pissed at me since we're running late." He told him and pulled his phone out of his back pocket to check the time.

Rashir thought about it for a minute before deciding he wanted to get out of the house, "Yeah just give me a minute to get ready," he replied. He went to his closet and picked out his Air Jordan 3 Retro Cool Grey's, a purple and black graphic tee, and purple shorts. He grabbed his gold chain and put in some earrings. He got his phone and some cash and walked to the foyer where Mateo and Nico were waiting.

"Fucking finally, I thought we were never going to leave," Mateo commented before grabbing his keys and walking out the door.

"Shut up nigga, we taking your car?" Rashir asked him while walking behind him.

"Yeah, I'm not drinking tonight," Mateo replied while climbing into his G Wagon. Mateo was loaded. His dad owned a bunch of restaurants along the east coast so his family never had to struggle with money. He grew up in Potomac, Maryland in a very big mansion that left Rashir speechless the first time he visited it. His parents paid for a very spacious house in Takoma Park when Mateo first went to UMD which was 20 minutes away from campus. The boys met during freshman year when they all tried out for the basketball team and became a powerhouse team. They became closer as the season went on and Mateo offered them to move into his house since he was the only one living in it at the time and Nico and Rashir were already sick of their roommates in their dorms. Mateo insisted on them not paying rent even though Rashir had brought it up many times when they first moved in while Nico happily obliged.

When they stepped in the car Mateo plugged in his phone to the aux cord and King Von's "Crazy Story 2.0" blared through the speaker. After the song ended, Rashir asked to play the song "Flex" by Polo G. As the song was playing, Nico muttered out a "Shit," and muted the song frantically.

"The fuck wrong witchu?" Rashir looked at him like he was crazy.

"Nala is calling me, nobody make a sound," he replied threatening them and answering his ringing phone. "Hi baby-" he started sheepishly, "Yes I'm on my way...Yes, Rashir is fine...Girl whatchu you cussing me out for?...C'mon bae don't be mad....I'll be there soon...Bye baby." He ended the call and let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

"Down bad," Rashir sucked his teeth at him and shook his head while chuckling.

"You know that girl is crazy forreal, I told her I might not come 'cause of Rashir and she cussed my ass out over the phone and didn't answer my texts for like an hour." Nico rubbed his temples and Rashir laughed at him. "I'm being serious nigga! Mateo step on it, we need to get there as soon as fucking possible. Ion need her being pissed at me for the entire night." He rushed Mateo by touching the steering wheel.

Mateo shoved him off and replied "You are beyond pussy-whipped, you really need to get a grip," Mateo scowled at him for messing with his steering wheel.

"You just mad you don't get no pussy," Nico shot back at him while turning the music back on. Rashir checked the time on the dashboard as they went back and forth and saw that it said 10:12 which meant the bar was probably packed by now. Terrapin's Turf was a local bar 5 minutes away from campus that was pretty popular among UMD students. They served discounted drinks on Friday and Saturday nights, had a dance floor in the middle of the space, and let students make requests for music which had the place very alive on weekend nights. Rashir and the boys went occasionally when they didn't have practice on Saturday mornings, which was not often.

20 minutes later, the boys arrived at the bar and Mateo went to park his car. Nico and Rashir entered and were immediately recognized by many students. While Rashir stayed back to chat with a few guys from the basketball team and flirt with some girls, Nico walked off to find Nala.

"Hey Rashir," He turned around to come face to face with one of his recent hookups Thara Le. The Vietnamese sultress had exceeded his expectations when they hooked up and the image of her plump lips wrapped around him still hadn't left his mind. She placed her slender hand on his bicep and smiled up at him.

Rashir didn't like to hook up with girls more than once, so even though she was tempting he shrugged her off and took a step back. "Hi." he gave her a tight-lipped smile and turned around to get a drink.

"Asshole!" she called after him and stomped back over to her table. Rashir waved her off and signaled for the bartender.

"Can I get a Long Island?" The bartender nodded when he flashed his ID at him and went to make his drink. Rashir got his phone out of his pocket and texted his sister Patience back, asking if she was coming back home for the weekend. She lived in Alexandria, Virginia with her boyfriend and 1-year-old son, Carter. In the middle of sending the text, Rashir looked up when a flash of chains caught his eye.

Next to him stood a curvy, dark skin girl who couldn't have been more than 5'6 in her heels. The chains from her shirt caught his attention and he had to refrain from staring at her large breasts that were practically on display with the top she was wearing. The mini skirt she had on left little to the imagination and her smooth skin was glowing with the lights in the bar. When she turned to the side to grab the bartender's attention he got to see her entire face and was blown away.

Her long, jet black hair cascaded down her back which had Rashir fantasizing about pulling it. She had thick eyebrows, big doe eyes that were a shade of light brown, and juicy lips that were covered in lip gloss. Her small, gold nose piercing was glinting in the light. Her neck was decorated in jewelry and her acrylics drummed on the bar top as she waited for the bartender to ask her what drink she wanted.

Rashir wanted her immediately.

He faintly heard her telling the bartender what drink she wanted but as he opened his mouth to say something to her, she turned on her heel and sashayed away with her hips swinging, back to her table that she saw Nico talking to Nala at. So she's friends with Nala? He thought to himself, he'd have to get Nico to introduce him to this girl. "Here's your drink man," The bartender slid his Long Island to him. Rashir reached to hand him a $10 dollar bill when the bartender shook his head, "It's on the house, I've seen you on the court bro, you're godly." The bartender smiled at him and Rashir told him thanks before walking towards Nico. He took long strides to make it to the table, determined to find out who the girl he encountered at the bar was.

"You aight?" Nico asked him when he finally made it to the table. Nala glared at him, upset that he had interrupted her conversation with her boyfriend.

"I'm straight, but let me talk to you for a sec," he tilted his head away from the table signaling that he wanted to have some privacy. Nico nodded and kissed Nala goodbye while telling her he would be back in a minute. Rashir gave her a brief smile which she ignored and turned around to talk to someone he recognized, Gianna Adams. Gianna's dad was a sponsor for the Maryland Terrapins and came to many of their games and brought her with him.

"Yo, who is that?" Rashir jutted his head at the girl sitting next to Gianna. He licked his lips at her hourglass frame and looked at Nico expectantly who was snickering. "What?" he asked him, confused.

"You talkin' bout Lourdes? Man move," Nico sucked his teeth at him and snickered again. "If you tryna do sum with her don't even try, that girl ain't gon' like you." He told him. Still confused, Rashir just stared at him, waiting for him to continue.

"Fuck you mean she not gon' like me?" he questioned Nico, still waiting on an explanation.

"She doesn't like cocky ass niggas like you is what I mean," Nico teased him and looked back at the table. "Just save yourself the trouble man," Is all he said before walking back to the table and pulling Nala onto his lap, and kissing her on the cheek. Frustrated, Rashir took a sip of his drink and watched as Lourdes frowned at her phone and stood up. She adjusted her skirt which was starting to reveal more than permitted making Rashir groan at her plump ass. She grabbed her things, and started walking over to the entrance of the bar.

Rashir wondered why she was leaving and began to follow her, muttering a few "Excuse me's" and made his way to the door. By the time he made it, she was already outside talking to a guy he had never seen before. She appeared to be tipsy as she was stumbling a little bit, but he caught her and placed his hands on her lower back, a little too close to her ass Rashir thought. The random guy whispered something in her ear and she giggled before pointing at a car that Rashir assumed was his.

Rashir decided he had enough of watching this girl and walked back into the bar.
