Gerard removed the serum from the briefcase and firmly grasped it.

"To change this wretched world," thought Gerard as he unscrewed the cap.

He felt for the vein on his arm and carefully injected the serum. Immediately Gerard felt dizzy, stumbled across the room and before he knew it, his whole world went blank, only to return by the sound of a massive explosion hours later.

Gerard got up and shook his head to wear off the dizziness. He managed to get on his feet and walk towards the briefcase. He realized that under the robes was another cut out for a metallic visor.

He changed into his battle attire and picked up the visor. He removed the cloth that covered his eyes, still keeping them tightly shut and put on the visor. Two screws on either side dug into his skull to, and Gerard let out a short scream.

"Totally worth it" mumbled Gerard under his breath, wiping off the blood that dribbled down his face.

He walked out of the front door and heard the humming of a massive battleship and the cries of citizens in the distance.

"There is a battleship in the distance," said a female voice in his head.

"Who the fuck is that," said Gerard, gripping his swords, trying to feel a presence around him.

"You seem confused," continued the voice.

"I'm your AI assistant. I was created by the top scientists of the Eirinian military just for you. I was incorporated into your visor. From now on, let me be your eyes."

"Let me be your eyes?" chuckled Gerard as he loosened the grip on his sword.

"You sound corny as fuck. If you were really created by the so-called top scientists, you should know I'm aware there's a goddamn battleship, genius."

"Yes, I do, but since I was created very recently, I am still very new at this. I hope I will be able to please you as I grow along with you and learn every fiber of your being."

"Now you just sound like a prostitute. Cut the crap and tell me who's attacking" snapped Gerard.

"As you wish, Eirini is being attacked by the empire of Zilevo. The west city is currently in ruins. The North, east, and south cities are being evacuated into the central city as we speak."

"Yeah, some useful info at last. Which city still has the most citizens left?" asked Gerard.

"Sou-"

The reply was cut short by a Zilevan soldier that snuck up behind Gerard in an attempt to land a fatal blow.

Gerard ducked, a move which he immediately followed up with a somersault kick to the soldier's skull that sent him face-first into the ground.

He landed on the soldiers back, unsheathed his sword and dug it into his neck. Gerard let out a sigh of relief as he pulled out the sword and wiped off the blood on his robes.

"You have amazing moves, Gerard," said the AI.

"COULD YOU STOP SOUNDING LIKE A PROSTITUTE!" snapped Gerard

"Yes," replied the AI.

Gerard unfurled his wings and flew towards the south city. He flew across stretches of land that used to emanate with the cheery chatter of the citizens but now, none of it could be heard.

Gerard knew he got closer to the city as he could finally hear the frantic voices of citizens and the battle cries of the soldiers. He picked up the pace and descended into the city. Gerard stood completely still, accustoming himself to the multitude of noises that surrounded him.

After a few minutes, he made a move and scoured the city, taking citizens away from the battle zones as the other Eirinian soldiers battled of the Zilevan soldiers.

15 minutes later, all Zilevan soldiers were taken care of, and the citizens were evacuated. Gerard took a deep breath, leaned on the wall of a destroyed house. The noises around him died down, but his thoughts sprung to life, and it didn't take him long to get lost in them.

"This so-called peace was attained by the sword after all" thought Gerard.

"The moment we are granted the freedom to kill, we all show our true colors. Our blood lust, our unquenchable thirst for war is what defines our very existence. We are nothing but a cursed race doomed to meet its end by our very own hands."

Gerard's thoughts were interrupted by an Eirinian soldier tapping his shoulder.

"HEY, KID," screamed the man.

Gerard shook his head and left his train of thoughts behind, freeing himself from his internal monologue.

"You stupid or what? You shouldn't be out here; your robes signify that you're just a recruit, and are you- are you...blind?" said the soldier.

"Don't you worry about me, I can handle myself," replied Gerard.

"That's not what I meant, you're not-"

The rest of the dialogue was cut off by a sudden realization that struck Gerard. In response, he unfurled his wings, and hastily took off.

"WAIT!" screamed the soldier.

"YOU'RE NOT—whatever, I don't get paid enough for this shit."

The soldier flew back to HQ as Gerard flew as fast as he could in the opposite direction.

"Where are you going, Gerard," said the AI.

"West city, that's where the Elric lives."

A few moments in the air passed, and he could hear the voices of two people. It brought him great relief to know one of them was Elric's.

"I advise you turn around, our surveillance system reports the presence of a dangerous individual in the vicinity," said the AI

"Surveillance what? Anyways that gives me even more of a reason to save this ass" snapped Gerard.

As he got closer, a wave of heat pushed him back.

"ELRIC!" screamed out Gerard as he heard him crashing through the ruins.

Gerard gritted his teeth and flew towards the man at full speed. He coated his leg in lightning, and before the man could turn around, landed a kick to his jaw.

To his surprise, the man barely flinched. He caught Gerard's leg and tossed him in the air. In an instant, Gerard could feel the gigantic figure of the man above him just before he landed a kick to Gerard's chest that sent him flying.

Gerard landed and skid on the roads of the west city before coming to a stop not too far away from Elric. Gerard felt relieved when he could hear Elric's faint, but consistent heartbeat. He got up and faced the man, coating himself in lightning as he prepared himself for battle.

"Not bad kiddo" laughed the man.

"You're pretty aware of your surroundings, you know, considering that you're blind and all. Sadly though, a lightning Xenocyte like yourself will surely be a pain in the ass to get rid of in the future"

"The same can be said about yourself, baldy," replied Gerard.

"Kid, that's hella impressive. You even know I'm bald without seeing me. How do you even do that?" exclaimed the man.

"The wind ma-"

"Woah, I don't give a shit, that was rhetorical."

The lighting coat around Gerard intensified as the man slowly approached him.

"You really think that's gonna help? Man you're more naive than I thought, but I must say, not many kids have the balls to stand up to me" said the man

"As a sign of respect, let me introduce myself. My name is Odysseus. Just Odysseus. I don't believe in family names. Now that you know who I am, see ya."

Odysseus pulled down on the 2nd divisions of his weapon and charged up a fire blast inside. Without wasting a single second, he shot the blast straight at Gerard and Elric. At that moment, Gerard's dream flashed before his mind's eye. The dream where the world will finally be quenched of its thirst for war, the dream where no child will have to go through the pain he did.

"I guess I have no other choice," thought Gerard, reaching for his visor.

Gerard removed his visor halfway before he felt the ground rumble and a wall rise in front of him, blocking Odysseus's attack. Gerard stopped in astonishment as he put his visor back on.

"What the hell was that? Is that...... Diamond?"
