"Think you'll ever see him again?", Maddie asked as we walked throughout the mall.

"He left his number but I don't know. What if it isn't the same as the first time we met, not just the sex but the conversation.", I said, stopping to stand in line for pretzels.

"So what? It was great sex.", Maddie said.

That was true but I enjoyed our conversation, the sex was just a bonus.

"It was but I don't know. It's been a month since we talked and we only texted once.", I said before ordering some pretzel bites.

"Then just text him and say you messaged the wrong number or something.", Maddie encouraged.

I laughed before shaking my head, telling Maddie was a bad idea. She was so involved with the idea of Kameron and I meeting up again, I know she is trying to do it for me. My experience with men hasn't been the best and I really don't want to try again.

After I received the pretzels and paid, I grabbed one and ate it. Maddie looked at me like I was crazy.

"What?", I asked.

Maddie furrowed her eyebrows.

"Amy, you hate salt on pretzels.", She said looking at the pretzel bite in my hand.

I looked down at it and it indeed had salt but I couldn't help but crave it.

"I know but I had a taste for something salty.", I explained before popping another one in my mouth.

Maddie shook her head before stealing one and eating it.

"I don't know, I think it's withdrawal from not seeing your magical one night stand.", Maddie teased.

"Last time we talked he said he was in LA, so he's not even in town.", I said.

Maddie wouldn't let it go, she kept telling me to text him and to see him again. It's for your own good, she'd say. You may have finally found a man who's good for you, she'd add. It was a great night with Kameron but I can't deal with another heartbreak or relationship drama.

It was a pleasant distraction and I will admit that sometimes I do wish that Kameron would send a random text that he's in town and we could meet up again but it isn't going to happen. Maybe it was better to leave it just as a one night stand and nothing more.

As we continued to walk around not looking for a specific store to go to, I finished my pretzels and threw the garbage away. Maddie and I walked arm in arm around the mall getting excited when we saw something cute.

I stopped walking and covered my mouth.

"You okay?", Maddie asked.

"The pretzels are coming back up.", I said before looking around in a panic. I saw a garbage can and ran over quickly before throwing up the pretzels that I finished not too long ago.

Maddie held my hair back then handed me some napkins she had in her purse. I took a seat on the bench next to the garbage can and let out a sigh.

"Your stomach did not sit well with those pretzels.", Maddie said.

"Yeah.", I said feeling not so good. "I think we should go home.", I said.

Maddie nodded. "Yeah, I'll make you some soup in case you have a cold coming in or something."

"Feeling any better?", Maddie asked.

"Yeah. Do you have a tampon with you? I ran out and haven't got a chance to get some.", I asked.

"Yeah, I didn't know you were on it.", Maddie said before handing me one.

"I'm not but I was supposed to be but I haven't gotten it yet, just to be prepared.", I said but those words left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Maddie looked up at me and I stared at the wall before my eyes caught hers. I began shaking my head and Maddie stood up.

"Please tell me that you're irregular often.", Maddie said.

"No, no it's been the same since forever.", I said my mouth becoming dry.

Maddie held my shoulders and sat me down with her. She looked at me then shook her head waving her hand.

"It's impossible.", Maddie said.

But what if it wasn't? Pregnancy was a very valid answer but one we didn't know for sure. There's no way, we were safe and cautious. It may just be a first for an irregular cycle. It had to be because there was no way that I was pregnant.

"It's very likely but I'm not so it's okay. To ease our nerves we will go to the nearest Walgreens and pick up a test and it will come out negative.", I said swallowing hard.

Maddie nodded be neither one of us moved, this felt like a dream. Maddie and I were just scaring ourselves into thinking that I was with child, I wasn't. It was just all in our heads and when the test comes our negative we are going to laugh and it will be the joke we tell all the time.

"Come on, let's go.", Maddie said helping me up and grabbing her stuff.

We made our way to the nearest Walgreens and walked inside quickly until we got to the pregnancy tests. We looked at each one to see if they were good enough to trust.

"Pregnancy tests can be wrong.", I mentioned.

"Yeah, women always say that they are inaccurate.", Maddie added.

"Of course.", I replied.

We finally picked out three tests, two First Response pregnancy tests and one Clear Blue test. Once we got back to my place we stalled for a while before I took them. Once I was done with them I set them face down on the sink and sat on the edge of the tub.

"No way you're pregnant, Amelia. You're just freaking yourself out because that's what you do.", I told myself.

A small knock came from the door.

"How's it going.", Maddie asked.

I opened the door and she walked in and sat next to me.

"Waiting for the negative results because I'm not pregnant.", I said.

"Right, of course.", Maddie said.

Right. Everything was going to be alright and no pregnancy will happen. I'm in the clear.
