Ian POV

I sat in the chair watching Mona sleep. My heart went out to her as she was not only grieving for her grandfather but our child. The look on her face when they gave her the news was weary with pain and I promised I would find Zara and anyone else who had a hand in this.

I heard my phone ringing. I looked down to see Cason calling.

"Hello?"

"Sabrina was just spotted leaving her house. She had bags and the child was with her. It seems that they could be headed to the airport."

"Don't let her get on it. Come get me when you get her."

"Got it! I'll call you when we have her." He hung up and I rubbed my hands across my face.

"Ian?"

I looked to see Mona's eyes dark red and her hand reaching out to me.

"I'm sorry," she said with a trembling voice.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. You didn't do anything wrong."

"I didn't protect our baby," she said tearing up.

"Awe sweetheart don't blame yourself for this. You did everything right. I'm just so happy you are alive. If something would have happened to you...I'm just glad you are still here with me."

"Why would someone want to do this?"

"I don't know sweetheart but I promise you whoever did this is going to pay."

"You promise?" She said as the tears rolled down her eyes.

"I promise."

There was a knock on the door and it slowly opened. Ann walked in and quickly closed it. She walked over to Mona and gave her a kiss and hug. She whispered that she loved her and pulled away. She hugged me and sat down next to me.

My phone rang again as this time the number didn't appear across the screen. If it was Zara, I would have to reign in my anger for now.

"Hello?"

"Is this Ian Harrington?" The deep heavy accented voice asked. I excused myself and walked outside of Mona's room where I saw Sam walking up to me.

"Yes."

"I have Darren Smith in custody. I'm Federal Police agent Carlos Santiago. I was told that you were looking for him."

"Who told you that?"

"Do you want him or not?"

"You did not answer my question Agent Santiago."

"Señorita Zara said to give him to you."

What kind of game was Zara playing? Why would she be giving up Darren? My mind started to race trying to figure out what she was up to.

"I'll send for him."

"I will have him delivered to Isla Mujeres National Airport. He will be loaded into a black chest in the hanger."

"Did Zara say why she was giving up Darren? Are you friends with Zara?"

"No. Goodbye Mr. Harrington " he said hanging up the phone.

"Damn it!" I said more to myself.

"Cason just called with confirmation that he has the boy and woman."

I nodded and picked up my phone. I needed to start calling in favors.

"Nico, I need your help."

I soon had Nico tracing the numbers that Zara called from. I would soon be on a level playing field and this so called game would be over.

"I am putting my number one guy on this, I will call you as soon as I get something," Nico said before hanging up.

I walked back inside Mona's room and stood next to her bed while Ann turned away and looked at the television.

"What's wrong?" she asked me puzzled.

She knew me so well. Was I that obvious that something was wrong?

"Zara, I need to find her. She had something to do with this."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm more than positive. I won't be gone too long. Your mother is here and Sam. You will be fine. She won't cause another incident like that," I said rubbing the side of her cheek. She held on to my hand.

"Just tell the cops and FBI everything. I don't want you getting hurt because I can't afford to lose you too."

"You won't. I love you," I said looking into her eyes.

I leaned down and whispered in her ear. "I will be back soon. If I'm gone too long, you call me, okay."

"Okay," she said and leaned in for a kiss. The kiss was soft but it also held permission to do what I had to do. I leaned back up and her lips moved saying to be careful. I nodded at Ann and left.

I grabbed my phone and called one of my childhood friends, Chase Denson, who was a FBI agent.

"Hello?"

"Something must be up if you are calling me," Chase said.

"Hey it is."

"What's up Ian?"

"Did you hear about the bombing of Atlanta General?"

"Actually I just got the call on it. We are on our way to interview witnesses and take a closer look at what happened."

"Judge Harris was my wife's grandfather."

There was a pause.

"Wife? Do you know who did it?" He asked taking a deep breath.

"Zara and her boyfriend Darren Smith."

"Zara who?"

Now it was time for me to pause.

"My ex fiancé."

"She's dead! Wait she's alive?"

"Yeah, it's a long story but I need your help."

"Just say the word."

"Darren Smith is in custody at Isla Mujeres National Airport, an agent Carlos Santiago called me and told me he had him. I'm not sure if it is a set up or not, but he is suppose to be in a freezer locked up. He's a gift from Zara."

"You're kidding me right?"

"I wish I was. My wife Mona was pregnant and she lost the baby because of this."

"I'm sorry Ian for your loss. You're in luck. I was just about to leave Mexico so I can scoop him up. Technically he could be a suspect so we can handle that."

"Thanks Chase."

"We will talk when I get to Atlanta." We hung up and I headed out the front door of the hospital.

I looked up to see Cason pulling up to the front door. I jumped in and he gave me the scoop.

"I had Ross go in posing as a heating and AC man. He told her he was checking for leaks and she had to stay. Ross told her she had one and was able to keep her there."

"You all work fast."

"If Zara was the mastermind of this, she is one bad bitch that needs to be stop," he said.

"Chase is picking up Darren in Mexico and bringing him back here."

"You know where he is?"

"I got a call from an Federal Police Agent stating he was giving me Darren courtesy of Zara."

"Something sounds off Ian."

"I know. I don't think Darren did the bombing. I think he is being used as a decoy or coverup."

"I agree the question is why?"

"That I'm still trying to figure out."

We pulled up to Sabrina's house and Ross's truck was parked in the front. I knocked on the door and waited for Sabrina to answer.

"Ian?" She looked shocked and scared.

"Why are you here?" She asked looking at Cason and then back at me.

"It's about your sister Zara," I said never breaking eye contact.

"She said you were dangerous. If you don't leave I'm calling the police."

"Zara orchestrated the bomb at Atlanta General. She killed a federal judge and almost killed my wife."

"You're lying! My sister would never do anything like that."

"Let me come inside so I can explain."

"I don't think so," she said about to close the door but Cason grabbed it. She jumped and moved back.

"Some of my friends were killed today in that explosion that your sister knew about. So forgive me if my manners and attitude are not the best at this present time," he said walking in and I followed.

"Where is Eric?" I asked looking around.

"I'm not telling..."

"Look Miss we can do this the easy way or the hard way but you are going to talk to us," Cason said standing up looking down at her.

"I just don't want him to hear about his mother, at least not now," I said trying to play the good guy.

I looked around and saw some bags at the door.

"Were you taking a trip?" I asked her.

She looked at the bags and the door. Was she trying to make a getaway?

"I'm not here to hurt you or Eric, I just need information. You told me you love Eric as your own and after losing my unborn son yesterday, I would never put any child in danger. You will have to believe me on that."

"He's upstairs."

"Call him down," I said.

She walked over to the stairs and called him down. Eric came running down the stairs with his soccer ball.

"Ian?" he said with a big smile on his face. I had to take a deep breath because if he was my child, I would handle my responsibly.

"Hey buddy. This is my friend and he wants to see your fancy soccer moves you showed me yesterday. Do you mind? He use to be a really good goalie back in school."

"Sure Ian."

Cason took him by the hand and opened the door. Eric tossed his soccer ball to Cason and they headed outside. I saw Sabrina trying to cock up a plan but I told her to sit down.

"You better not hurt him. What do you want from me?"

"Where are you going in such a hurry?"

"I have to go out of town for my job."

"You were taking Eric with you?"

"Yes."

"So where were you headed to?"

"None of your business," she said with as much venom as a snake.

"I'm not here to play games with you, but your sister is."

She rolled her eyes.

I took a seat across from her.

"Have you heard about the bombing at Atlanta General?"

She shook her head no.

"Your sister knew it was going to happen. She killed people. Ten people were killed because of the blast. The judge that was the target, was my wife's grandfather. My wife was there visiting and because of your sister's actions, my unborn son is dead. I am really reigning in my anger but if you continue to play me, you will be treated like my enemy."

She turned away and stood up. Ross walked in with his gun.

She looked from him to me and then at the door.

"The bullet in that gun will pierce your heart before you even make it to the door. Now where were you going."

"I was going to LA for work. I didn't have a babysitter for Eric so I was going to take him with me and find one when I got there."

"Why do I have a feeling you are lying to me? There is one thing I can't stand and that's a liar."

She began to fidget.

"I know you want to protect your sister but she has done some things that are unforgettable."

"My sister would never do anything that you are accusing her of," she said getting up.

"How do you know that?"

"My sister might have issues, but she wouldn't do anything like this."

I laughed as I stood up and backed her into a corner.

"Why won't you let me help you? Your sister will pay for her sins by my hands. I am the judge and jury and she will wished she was dead before I touch her. Either you give her up or you will share in her death sentence."

She began to cry. Her tears didn't faze me. Ross walked up and cocked the gun.

"I thought you were..."

"He is a friend of mine. You see he lost friends yesterday because of your sister. I know you love Eric as your own but how would he feel if you were no longer here to take care of him."

"Please..."

"Where were you going? Were you going to meet Zara?"

She was quiet and being stubborn.

"I don't like repeating myself. Were you going to meet Zara?"

"No."

I nodded and Ross went outside to get Cason and Eric. They walked back in as Eric was telling Sabrina about his moves against Cason.

"C is going to take you in the kitchen and fix you a snack. I need you to be good."

Eric shook his head as Cason took him in the kitchen. Ross connected his silencer to the gun and pointed it at Sabrina's forehead.

"I will make you a deal. You give up Zara and help us find her and I promise to keep you and Eric safe after she's gone. If you decide not to help, you can start saying your prayers as today will be the last day of your life."

She was crying even more with her hands up.

"Now for the last time, where were you going?"

She swallowed as more tears ran down her face. "Too...the airport."

"For?" I said getting agitated.

"There was a private plane waiting on me to take me to LA."

"What's in LA?"

"My job!"

I nodded at Ross and he fired a shot inches from the top of her head. She screamed.

"The next shot will be directly in the center of your forehead."

"She arranged a private plane to Sweden," she said breaking down.

Her phone began to ring. It was coming from her purse. I grabbed it and saw a familiar number.

"Answer it. Put it on speaker and I swear if you say the wrong word, you will die." I tossed her the phone and she answered.

"Hello?"

"Why are you not on that plane?" Zara said from the other end.

"The roads and interstates are blocked. Someone blew up a hospital or something."

Zara started to laugh. Sabrina looked at me and back at the phone.

"It's not funny."

"You're right. But anyways you need to get to the airport quickly. Some shit is about to go down and I need to make sure you and Eric are safe."

"You need to tell me what is going on Zara? I'm scared. Does this have anything to do with Ian?"

"The less you know the better."

"Zara god dammit. I could be in danger!"

"You won't if you get to the airport. I will have someone meet you when you land."

"I'm not sure how long it will be. The city is just about shut down looking for whoever did this."

"Well they won't find them."

"Zara?"

"Just get here Brina and soon," she said hanging up. Sabrina dropped the phone.

"That's not my sister," she said looking at me. Ross put his gun down as she slid down the wall.

I bent down in front of her as she cried.

"I'm sorry, I had no idea," she said.

"I believe you. I need you to tell me everything before anyone else gets hurt or killed."

"She told me you were dangerous. She said I needed to get out of town with Eric. She said she would arrange a plane and I think she said it was headed to Sweden."

I looked back at Ross. He walked back to the kitchen to get Cason. Ross stayed in and Cason came out.

"Zara was taking them to Sweden."

His eyes met mine. Was my father apart of this plan? Cason picked up his phone and made a call. He walked off leaving Sabrina and I alone.

"I will help you as much as I can, but your sister..."

"She doesn't deserve to be his mother," she said wiping her tears.

"I agree."

"I love Eric and Zara, but she has changed. She has never been this evil. He changed her."

"Who changed her?"

"Darren, her now ex-boyfriend."

That's why she was giving up Darren because they were no longer together. Something had to have happen for her to just call it quits.

"Do you know why they broke up?"

"No. I thought they would get married. I never liked Darren because when she was pregnant with Eric, he didn't like being around him. That's why she gave him to me to raise."

My phone rang and I looked down to see Nico calling. I stood up and walked back in the living room.

"I got the numbers. She's good. She is using pay as you go phones. She must have at least five, but they are all from the same carrier. I tracked the numbers and they are coming from Sweden. If she keeps using them, she will have to purchase more soon."

"Is there anyway we can block her access?"

"Unfortunately not, but what you can do is add money to each phone and that way she will keep using one of the random numbers and you can communicate that way."

"Do it."

"I will text you the numbers and add the money."

She was in Sweden and now that I knew for sure, her time was winding down. I couldn't rush because everything needed to be perfect. She was the rat that I needed to trap.

I walked back over to Sabrina. She looked deflated. Cason walked back in and pulled me to the side.

"Chase just picked up Darren and they are headed back. Sam spotted the guy we believe planted the bomb. He has him in safe keeping. All I ask is that you let me have him. You can take care of Zara, Darren and your father, but let us have him," he said with pleading eyes.

I nodded yes and he smiled. If this guy was lurking around the hospital Mona was in now, he was going for her and I would not let that happen. Peter walked in with his arm in a sling. He reached me the keys to his car.

"I will stay here with them, just in case something happens along with Ross. You and Cason can go. Sam is waiting for you at the hospital and Mona is asking about you."

"Sabrina, Ross and Peter will keep you safe. Just follow their directions and everything will be fine. If Zara calls back put it on speaker and they will call me."

She nodded as Cason and I walked out the door.
