Ian POV

I had finally made it to the hospital as police and firetrucks surrounded the hospital. I rushed out only to be stopped by police.

"My wife is in that hospital on the third floor. Is she okay?"

"A bomb exploded on the third floor."

"Oh God, her grandfather Judge Harris was on the third floor. She was up there with him and his security detail."

"Sorry sir but everyone on the third floor died. They are up there now going through the hospital. They are evacuating people now from the first and second floors. The entire third floor is shut down. Electricity has the doors locked and there is debris everywhere. It's a mess sir and we need you to stay behind the tape."

"My wife needs me. Please I need to find her."

"Sir you can't we are trying to clear out all levels. Tell me your wife's name and I will have them search for her."

I stood back as it finally registered. "Did you say everyone was dead on the third floor?"

"It was no way anyone survived. The vibrations from the bomb brought the ceiling and the glass windows down. They have a team in there now trying to get to the the third floor."

I shook my head. It was no way in hell Mona was dead. It was no way He would take her away from me.

"My friend was with her along with two body guards, two federal marshalls along with staff."

I heard his radio going off cutting me off.

"Captain Taylor this is DF4. Judge Harris is dead. Unidentified black female dead in room. Four Caucasian males dead outside the room. Two, no three nurses dead and one physician dead. Total body count ten dead."

"Nooooooooo!" I yelled as I fell to my knees. This couldn't be happening. "My wife is dead?"

"I'm so sorry sir."

The cop walked away as I was in shock. It was no way Mona was dead. This was just an awful nightmare. I had to see this for myself so I got up crossed over the tape and rushed into the hospital. I heard the cop running behind me and I was tackled to the ground and handcuffed.

"She's not dead! I need to see her!" I yelled.

"Sir please calm down."

"You don't understand! She's pregnant! She can't be dead!" I screamed out in rage.

I saw Sam easing in the back. He looked at me and nodded. I hoped he could find her.

Mona POV

My head was splitting. I heard a loud noise and lights flashing. I saw Cason lying on the side of me. All I remember was hearing a blast and Cason covering me as glass and debris went flying everywhere. I was lying on my back and my legs stung as the pain shot up my right leg. It was twisted to the side of me and it hurt like hell.

There was a door lying on top of us. When the blast happened, Cason jumped in front of me and we tumbled down the stairs. He took most of the hit because he held on to me as glass from the windows exploded and the door broke from the hinges. He had saved my life.

I heard coughing and looked to see Cason getting up. His face and hands were cut. He shook his head and glass fell out. He was able to maneuver the door off of us.

"You okay?" He asked.

"I think so. My head..."

"It bleeding you need to stay still I need to find some help."

"You are bleeding too."

"I will be fine. Believe me I have been hit a lot harder.

"What happened?"

"I don't know. With the lights going off and siren, I think there could have been a bomb in the hospital," he said.

"A bomb? Who would want to blow up a hospital. Ooohhhh, my leg hurts and my back."

"Let me see." He looked at it. "You have a big piece of glass in your leg. A doctor is going to have to remove it."

"Is it bleeding?"

"Yeah, but the glass is keeping most of it in. I need to get help."

"Please don't leave me Cason." He tried standing up and leaned to the side. He went to open the door on the second floor but it wouldn't open.

"I think something is blocking it," he said.

I had gone to get something to eat and Cason had gone with me. The elevator was taking too long so we had decided to take the stairs.

He walked back up the stairs to where the door should have been and I heard him cussing. Whatever he was trying to do was pissing him off.

"Since the doors are electric I would think they would open but they are locked down because of this. I promise to get you out of here okay?"

"Okay," I said starting to cry. If the third floor door was blocked that meant something had to happen... "Oh God Poppa." I willed myself not to cry, he couldn't be gone. He promised he would never leave me. I needed to find him.

Cason grabbed his cell but there wasn't any service.

"Cason if the third floor is blocked, do you think something bad could have happened to my Poppa?"

"You have to think positive Mona," he said holding my hand.

"The baby. Oh God, please don't let anything happen to my baby."

"Shh, it's okay. You have to stay calm."

"I can't. I feel something between my legs."

"What does it feel like?"

"Liquid, do you think..." I felt my heart starting to race and my breathing starting to hitch. It felt as if a weight was holding me down as a pain shot up my back.

"Mona I need you to calm down. I am going to take a look but you are going to have to stay calm. Okay?"

I nodded my head as I felt a huge pain and turned my head. I felt Cason raise up my dress as more tears flowed.

"I'm going to take off your underwear to see okay?"

"Okay?"

He reached under my dress and pulled off my panties. "Look at me okay?" I turned and watched. I heard his breath as he looked back up at me.

"There is blood Mona. It looks like it..."

"No Cason, please don't say it."

"I got to get you out of here."

I started to cry even harder. I didn't want to lose my baby. Cason started banging on the wall and doors. With the sirens going off it seemed like nothing could be heard.

He took off his shirt and wrapped it around my head. "I want you to close your eyes and cover your ears, okay?"

I nodded as he headed down the stairs. I heard three shots and he tried to open the second floor door. After a few minutes I heard a loud bang.

"Okay, I am going to lift you and carry you out." He lifted me up and carried me down the stairs. I wrapped my arms around him as he took each step very carefully. The second floor was deserted as it was dark with the sirens going off. I saw flashes of lights as men came in with guns.

"I have a pregnant woman who needs help. She needs a doctor ASAP," Cason shouted at the armed officers.

"The third floor is blocked. You will have to cut a hole..."

"The roof has completely caved in. There are ten dead people and we need to get them out. Were there any others with you?" the officer asked.

"No we were the only two."

Hearing the news caused my emotions to go out of control. My Poppa was dead just like my father. My heart hurt just as much as the pain in my abdomen. I could feel more blood seeping out.

"Here we will escort you out," another officer said.

"Judge Harris, two US Marshall's Gregory Stewart, Jason Pitts and two of my men Drew Richers and Paul Sam were up there. There were also four nurses and one doctor on the floor before we left."

"Okay we will check it out," he said as two men lead us to the entrance.

There were news cameras, police cars, ambulances and firetrucks everywhere. Most people looked to be okay. I felt a pain on the side of my stomach. The first available ambulance he saw, Cason took me over.

"She is in her second trimester and there is blood. I'm not sure if she is miscarrying or not and she has a huge piece of glass in her leg.

"We will take care of her," the paramedic said putting me in the ambulance.

"Sir you are bleeding," the paramedic said.

"I need to find her husband. Mona I'm more than sure that Ian is here somewhere and I am going to find him."

"I'm scared Cason."

"Just hang in there. If I can't find him, I am coming back," he said grabbing my hand.

I let him go as he disappeared into the crowd.

Cason POV

I had to be strong for Mona. Not only did my body hurt like hell, two of my best friends and comrades were gone. I had gotten a text from Drew saying something wasn't right and as soon as we made it to the third floor the explosion happened.

My first instincts were to protect Mona, so I grabbed her and we slid down the stairs as the door came spiraling out of nowhere. I turned my back as the door landing on me. I was so happy I had worn my bulletproof vest that took the impact.

It's amazing the things that go through your head when something this major happens. You stick to your survival instincts and pray to walk out alive.

When Mona asked me about her grandfather and baby, I couldn't speculate. I knew if I told her what I thought, she would be crushed. I had to keep it positive so she would do as I say.

I prayed everyone would be okay, but deep down I knew they were all dead. No one in direct contact would have survived.

"Cason?" I heard someone calling my name. It was Sam and that had to mean that Ian was here. He came and put his arm around me.

"I gottcha you. You are bleeding and you look pale," he said.

"Where's Ian?"

"The police have him in a police car. They told him a black female was in the room with the Judge and she was deceased. He flipped out and went charging in the hospital but they stopped him."

"She's not dead."

"What?" he looked surprised.

"We were in the cafeteria and we were headed back to his room but the explosion happened and we just came out."

"Come on I will take you to Ian," he said. I saw Peter sitting in one of the ambulances.

"Man you okay?" I asked as the paramedic was wrapping his arm up.

"I flew against the wall as I was getting off the elevator on the other end of the hall talking to Ian on the phone. They say I broke it and lucky to be alive. Drew as well as Paul are gone," he said shaking his head.

"What about the Judge?" Sam asked.

"It seems like there were two bombs. One in the ceiling and one in the vacant room next to the Judge. They are all dead."

"Awe Gawd. So you think that guy had something to do with it?"

"His name is Carter Stewart," Peter said.

"Shit!!! that means it was a hit. I didn't think Darren had that much pull."

"I talked to Jacoby. The money was funneled in through Switzerland."

"Who the hell from Switzerland would want the judge dead?"

"Jacoby is trying to figure that out."

There was silence.

"Ian is going to be crushed when he finds out that Mona is dea..."

"Mona was with me. She's alive but I am not sure about the baby."

"Shit!" Peter said jumping off the ambulance.

Peter and I went to find Ian as I sent Sam to Mona. I spotted him in the back of the police car with his head between his legs. It was still a mad house but it looked like everyone had gotten out that survived.

"Ian?" I called out and he didn't move.

"That's my friend. His wife was in there but she is okay and I need to tell him," I told the officer. He let me pass and I walked up to the car.

"Ian she is alive," I quickly said as he raised his head. His entire face was red and his eyes were bloodshot.

"She and I were in the cafeteria and headed back up to the third floor when the explosion happened. She's hurt but alive."

He just stared at me as he was processing everything.

"Her leg is probably broken and the baby... I'm not sure. Sam is with her in the ambulance."

I called the cop over and he released Ian. We lead him to the ambulance where Sam was standing outside with his head down. He was rubbing his hand through his hair.

"Where is she," Ian asked.

Sam shook his head. "She's in the ambulance."

I heard a scream coming out the back of the ambulance. I jumped up and opened the back doors.

"Mona," Ian yelled out.

"Sir we have to get her to another hospital, she is losing too much blood," the young paramedic said.

Ian jumped up and grabbed her hand as he sat next to Mona as she cried and the ambulance drove off.

Ian POV

"What's wrong?" I asked the paramedic as I watched Mona lying in the small cot as he had given her a shot to calm her down.

"I think I have stopped the bleeding, but the fetus heartbeat is not where it needs to be. We will have her at Atlanta General in about five minutes. There is an ER OB waiting on us there."

I looked at Mona as her eyes looked heavy. She looked pale as her eyes stared at the wall. Her eyes were puffy and she just didn't look the same. I thanked God she was alive and prayed more that she would make it through this.

"I sedated her because her blood pressure was through the roof."

"Mona can you hear me baby?" I asked holding her hand. Her eyes looked at me lazily. "Everything will be okay, I'm here okay." She just looked at me until her eyes finally closed.

I felt when the ambulance stopped and the doors opened. There was a team of nurses and two doctors as the cot was lowered with the machines still attached.

I heard the paramedic yelling out vital signs and the nurses quickly rolling her in.

"You are?" The nurse asked me.

"Her husband," I said a little agitated as they rolled her in the emergency room.

"We need you to stay outside. We are taking her to the OR and as soon as we know what is going on, I will report back to you," the older black nurse said.

I sat down in a daze. Zara, Darren and my father were going to pay. If I had to spend every last cent I owned for revenge they would feel it.

I thought I had lost her earlier only to to find her, but now she could leave me. My beautiful wife, I needed her to be okay. She would be devastated if she lost our child. I sat there not knowing how I could help her.

I heard my phone ringing and it was Ann. How would I explain what was happening to her daughter?

I cleared my throat and answered.

"Ian?"

"Ann, she's alive at Atlanta General. She is in surgery."

"Thank God my baby is okay. What about the baby?" I could hear her crying and thanking The Lord.

"I don't know. She is in surgery and the heartbeat... The heartbeat is low. She has lost a lot of blood."

"Ian please tell me my baby will be okay?" I could hear her sniffling. "I'm on my way. Rochelle's sister, Betty is here so I am on my way. I can't believe this is happening to my family."

"What about Judge Harris?" I asked knowing the truth but I needed to know for sure.

"They found him but he's dead. Who would want to do this to him?"

"Believe me I will find out."

"Rochelle is distraught and she is not taking the news very well."

"I can understand."

"I am on my way," she said hanging up. I put my phone in my pocket as Sam, Peter and Cason walked in.

"Thank you for saving her," I said getting up."

"I just hope everything is okay?"

The nurse came out that I had spoken to before Mona was rushed into the ER. She had a grim look on her face.

I walked over as she was looking for me. I had a feeling something was wrong.

"My wife, is she okay," I asked feeling a heavy pain in my chest.

"I'm so sorry sir, they tried everything."
