3 years ago - Busan, Korea

Jimin and Taehyung always met for a few days every week. Taehyung hurried his soul collecting duties and then greeted Jimin at the same spot in Busan Park.

Jimin never questioned what mystical creature Taehyung was and Taehyung never questioned what Jimin was. It was an unspoken rule to never ask since they both felt burdened and ashamed of their true identities. But they made each other feel human.

They'd go to amusement parks, malls, restaurants, libraries, visit schools and colleges, tourist attractions, and even hikes. Everyday was a new adventure for them.

Both Taehyung and Jimin knew this wouldn't last. Both Taehyung and Jimin knew this life was a escape from who they really were. But being together... brought them happiness. Even though it was all temporary.

It wasn't long before something went wrong in their relationship.

It was over a year later in Chung's Coffee since they first met. Y/n brought them their drinks and that strange boy, Jungkook was at a table in the corner, sitting alone.

There were very few people in the coffee shop and nobody seemed to care what Jimin and Taehyung were doing. Jimin's eye crinkles were just so beautiful and Taehyung wanted to see them a little bit closer...

Taehyung gulps. He might as well take a shot. He leans down and kisses Jimin on the lips. It was a chaste, close mouthed kiss, but it was perfect. The kiss lasted for a few seconds but it felt like forever.

Taehyung opens his eyes slowly, afraid yet eager to how Jimin's reaction was. Jimin was frozen at first, not displaying any response.

It was Taehyung's first kiss with someone ever. He hoped he didn't screw it up.

"Your kiss...brings me peace," Jimin giggles and wraps his hand around Taehyung's. It was a platonic, yet loving embrace; they felt security with each other's touch.

They were enjoying their company until they noticed some drama in the corner of the restaurant.

"I'm sorry, Y/n, but I'm going to have to lay you off," Mrs Chung states grimly, avoiding gaze with the employee before her.

"What?" Y/n gasps, confused about the situation unraveling before her.

"I'm going to have to let you go." It looks painful for Mrs. Chung to say.

"B-but I need this job! I need the money!" Y/n exclaims, in disbelief.

"Sorry," Mrs. Chung says. It looks like Mrs. Chung doesn't want to actually fire Y/n.

"Can I know why? What did I do wrong?" Y/n wonders.

"I-I can't say. This is hard enough for me to do," Mrs. Chung says, still refusing to make eye contact.

"Fine. I don't understand why you've done such a great kindness and then taken it away from me... but thanks anyways for my time here." Y/n takes off her apron and hands it to Mrs. Chung. She walks out of the shop. A tear fell down Mrs. Chung's cheek.

Taehyung whispers to Jimin, "Well that was a terrible thing to do. Fire someone out of nowhere and not even explain why."

     "I know why," Jimin says.

"Why? How do you know why-wait did you do your few seconds of mind reading?"

Jimin smirks, not even saying anything. Of course he did. It was foolish since it was the last of Jimin's mind reading ability for this year. And he used it all up right now.

"Why did she have to fire Y/n?" Taehyung asks.

"Mrs. Chung received an anonymous letter threatening her to fire Y/n or she'll get her business ruined. Mrs. Chung knew Y/n needs the money for her family apartment bills but she couldn't risk losing the restaurant. She's the best worker she ever had, but it had to be done."

"Wow," Taehyung says. "Do you also got a feeling Jungkook wrote the letter? Although it's been over a year, I still remember him threatening Y/n to quit her job vividly."

Jimin sighs. "Who else could it be?" They glance towards Jungkook, and he looks quite ashamed. He's biting his bottom lip, and is close to crying. The guilt must be eating him away.

Jimin grabs his hand again. "Taehyung-ie, do you mind if I use the bathroom? To wash my face or something. Just don't feel well."

"Sure." Taehyung nods and Jimin scurries away towards the bathroom.

Jungkook also gets up and runs out of the door. Taehyung doesn't know why but he impulsively decides to follow him.

Jungkook arrives to a dark alley and takes his phone out and dials a number. He impatiently walks back and forth.

"Father, is there anyway you can cancel the restaurant inspections today? Like Chung's Coffee and the other food places?" Jungkook asks. Taehyung doesn't know what the other line says, but he can hear some chattering.

"Because I want to hang out with you. I understand you're mayor of the city, but please-" Jungkook begs.

Taehyung could hear Jungkook's father yelling on the other line.

"Fine. Don't cancel the inspections to see your son. I'll see you next month or whenever the hell the next holiday it is." Jungkook hangs up the phone and kicks a trashcan. He looked so angry.

Jungkook mutters to himself, "Guess I did the right thing by sending the letter to Chung. Y/n is fired so Mrs. Chung won't get in trouble by my father for having an underage employee..."

Jungkook dials someone else.

"Bro, you're getting tutored by Y/n right? How well is she doing tutoring you?" Jungkook asked.

"She's great? So start paying her. You and everyone else," Jungkook demands.

"Listen. I got Y/n to tutor you and all the guys in the first place. Your grades been going up since her help. The least you could do is pay her. $20 per hour for each of you."

There was some bickering before it seemed like the other party agreed and Jungkook grins.

"Perfect. Now don't tell Y/n I did this or I'll beat your ass." He hangs up the phone, leans against the wall and sighs.

Taehyung quickly walks away from him.

So Jungkook threatening Y/n to quit her job over a year ago was done in order to protect Y/n? Jungkook knew his dad would be inspecting restaurants and Chung's Cafe would be shut down if an underage employee was found.

So Jungkook forced Y/n to tutor his friends.. only for his friends to pay Y/n cash? So Y/n would still be making money legally even without her job at Chung's Cafe?

Although Jungkook's words to Y/n were cruel, he really wanted the best for her? So his heart was as pure as Jimin and Taehyung perceived it to be in the first place?

Taehyung scratches his head. But why wouldn't Jungkook directly tell and help Y/n... why did he verbally bully her when his intentions were good?

And the name Jungkook... just seems to familiar. His father was apparently the mayor of Busan City... Didn't Satan, Taehyung's father, mention that Taehyung's mother cheated on Satan with a mayor from Earth?

Jungkook's father... couldn't be the same man that Taehyung's mother fell in love with and left Satan for... right? But if that were true... then Jungkook would be Taehyung's half brother...

Taehyung holds his head and groans. This whole situation was too perplexing and he didn't know what was the truth or not.

He finally enters the coffee shop and Mrs. Chung runs towards him.

"Please help! Jimin fainted!" Mrs. Chung begs.

"What?" Taehyung's eyes widened and he sprints towards the bathroom.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: sorry this took awhile to upload! I had writer's block 😬 this story will end eventually so do y'all mind checking my historical fanfic "The Cowardly Warrior" on my profile?

It's about a girl in the 13th Century who isn't allowed to learn how to fight, but she disguised herself as a guy and learns to fight at an academy. She eventually becomes a secret hero in the kingdom and is scared to reveal her identity. Taehyung inspired her to stop being a coward, and Jimin is her enemy/ the 2nd male lead😊

ALSO if you're still reading this.. sorry the updates are so slow. If I were to stick to an upload schedule it'd have to be once a month but I do upload more frequently than that haha just very randomly and sometimes there's large gaps.. Sorry school and life is consuming me. :( 💕 if I could I would upload once every week or even more often. I'm just so busy and writing does take a lot of energy although I enjoy it. Hope y'all understand.

Also I would NEVER leave an ongoing long fanfic incomplete though because I know how it feels LOL so yea don't worry. All my long fanfics will be finished with a clear ending. Eventually haha.
