in which for once, ladybug doesn't have to fight an akuma, but instead use her words, but they touch another's heart too...

"What is that?!" Chat Noir jumped backwards, staring wide-eyed at the monster that was the akuma.

It looked like a human... well, judging by figure. Legs, arms, like normal... but it was... so tall. And green, and hairy, and it had such a weird face, smile way too big and yellow eyes. And the eyebrows were... curly?

"I am the Grinch!"

Of course.

"If I can't have the RoboCar 3000, nobody can!"

Ladybug landed beside him, rolling her eyes. "Sounds like a kid who isn't getting the present he wanted," she whispered to him with a grin. "Hey, Grinch! Did you forget to send your list to Santa?" This time she yelled, her confident smirk being aimed towards the Grinch.

The Grinch cackled, a horrifying sound that shook the ground. Even Ladybug's smirk slipped. "Let's see who's smiling after I take your cat!" The arms stretched out, like Mr Fantastic's arms, he reached and grabbed Chat Noir.

Ladybug panicked, he could see the genuine fear in her eyes. "No!" She screamed, reaching for her yoyo.

The Grinch laughed and clenched Chat Noir in his hand. The superhero flinched and groaned in pain as the akuma reached for his ring...

"Grinch!"

The two heads turned to look at Ladybug once more.

"Do you believe that Christmas is about presents?" She stood there, arms at her sides, desperation in her crystal eyes. "Because it's really not." The Grinch was too shocked to answer, confused and blinking rapidly as she took a single step forward. "Presents are a nice bonus, sure, but Christmas is about family and friends, being with the people you love and making them happy. Sure, you want that toy, but would you rather that toy or your parents' love?" Another step forward, the Grinch stock-still, the telltale purple butterfly in front of his face, revealing that Hawkmoth was talking with him.

The Grinch groaned, releasing Chat Noir and pressing a hand to his head. "N-no! Stop, I-I want that toy! And your miraculous!" He groaned again, dropping to the floor

Ladybug knelt in front of him. "No, you don't. Hawkmoth wants our miraculous, and he's the bad guy, so he doesn't deserve them. And you might want that toy, but is it really worth all this trouble?" She smiled comfortingly, slipping off his wristband while he shook his head. "Thank you, then."

He looked at her, head tilted. "For what?"

"For this." She grinned, breaking the wristband and swinging her yoyo to catch the akuma. Her signature call went nearly unheard as a purple mist overtook the Grinch, leaving a little boy, no more than 8 years old in his place. She threw her yoyo into the air, restoring the city and went to comfort the little boy before approaching Chat Noir.

She held up a fist, a shaky smile on her face. "Pound it?"

He stared at her, watching the weariness in her eyes dance with her usual passion and fire. He held up a fist, returning the small smile. "Pound it."

Christmas is about family and friends, being with the people you love.

I think I'd like that.
