I would much rather put my tits in a panini press than have the most goodful awful cramps I experience every single month. The righter word to call it would be 'hell'. Sometimes it physically immobilizes me, leading me to stay in bed all day. Just like now I haven't even got out of bed, and I know it'll be like that for the next two/three days. I've already asked a couple of people to keep me up to date with the work knowing that going to campus is out of the question, the cramps are too much.

I've legit wrapped myself in my duvet like a cocoon in my room as I watch YouTube on my laptop, I hear a knock on my door and it opens and Sasha pops her head in through the small crack of the door, "hi, girl how you feeling?" I pause the vid to look at her, "Terrible." She nods understandably, "I'll come back with some ice cream, okay?"

I give her the biggest puppy dog eyes, "thank you." Sasha gives her a small smile, closing the door as she leaves. I continue with my YouTube marathon but it's not long after when my phone rings. I swipe the screen to answer and it's Devontae. The background is noisy, I can make out the tables and chairs behind him. He's in class, "hey, where are you?"

I start to sit up, cringing when I feel a sharp pain in my lower abdomen. "I'm at home."

He shifts to balance his phone properly, "why?"

I grimace when another sharp pain slices through my stomach again, "my period decided to stop by for her monthly appointment and she's not here to play."

Devontae makes a pouting face which manages to makes me let out a short laugh, "you okay? You don't need anything?" I inhale a deep breath, pushing through the excruciating pain, painting on a fake smile for his sake knowing how he gets, "I'll be fine. I just need to. . .rest. I don't think I'll be able to make it to class this week." He shrugs, "it's aight. I'll gets the notes for you." He looks up from the screen before glancing down at the screen. "I'mma call you back. Hudson just walked in." He gives me a bored face and I snicker. I wave at the camera, and he waves back before he hangs up.

...

"Kiana."

I groan, mumbling a 'no' before turning over and covering myself with the duvet. I groan again before peeling me eyes open to see Devontae hovering over me. He scoots next to me on the bed, "I got this for you." He reaches down and comes up with a large box and places it gently in my lap. I look at him suspiciously, "what's this?"

"Just open it."

I peer at him one more time before taking the lid off and in it is M&M's, Skittles, Hershey kisses, Oreo's, popcorn, Hersey chocolate bars, Sour Patch Kids, lip balm, tampons, pain tablets, ice cream, Doritos, and a heating pad. I purse my lips at his sweetness, resisting the urge to cry, my emotions are on a rollercoaster already. "Thank you so much." I wince when I move too much.

He furrows his brows in worry, "are the pains always this bad?" I brush my hair behind my ears and lay back down, "not all the time. Some are worse than others." He frowns at that.

"Stop. Don't give me that look. I'll be fine as long as don't leave this bed." I say, taking a box of Oreos from the box, putting the brown box on the nightstand.

Devontae arches a brow at me then kicks off his shoes. I glance down at the screen of my laptop momentarily then look up at him in confusion, "what are you doing?"

He climbs under the covers next to me, making himself comfortable, and puts his arm behind me." Getting comfortable. What does it look like I'm doing?" I scrunch up my face, "you don't have to stay, I'm good. I'm a big girl that can handle my business."

He just stares at me. I stare back. His brows rise. I let out a sigh and look away knowing that there's no convincing him. "You're so annoying." I huff, crossing my arms over my chest. He simply chuckles and puts my MacBook in between the both of us as we watch whatever playing on the screen.

I can barely keep my eyes open but I'm trying my hardest to not fall asleep. I don't want to leave Devontae with a sleeping, hormonally imbalanced, emotional, menstruating woman for company.

"Tired?" He asks me and I stubbornly shake my head. Devontae laughs under his breath, and I scowl at him. "Just sleep. I'm not going anywhere."

I open my mouth to argue but he interrupts me, "I'm not taking no for an answer just sleep, mama." I can't help the gooey feeling I get when he calls me that and it's always unexpected and still however it feels natural. He didn't even notice the slip that he made but I like it. I let out a big yawn before closing my eyes to sleep.

...

Periods. From what I heard from my little sister, I know the period pains have been described to being someone taking a serrated knife and someone cutting at their abdomen, or someone taking their lower abdomen and wringing it out like a wash rag. I can't even imagine how Kiana must be feeling. She looks like she having it bad, she can barely sit up, nor can she walk.

I decide to fire up the heating pads, reading the instructions first. Destiny always uses a hot water bottle, but I also heard that heating pads are just as effective.

I lift her shirt, placing the heating pad on the lower region of her stomach where the period pains are said to be, soon enough the lines on her forehead even out and she sighs. Her eyes flutter open, "thank you." She whispers.

I stroll into the apartment finding all four idiots seated on the couch. After dropping Kiana off at school and grabbing a quick bite to eat on the way, I feel much better because I got some proper sleep for the first time in a long time, "Ah-ha! Here comes the man of the hour. Did you see what time it is? We have been trying to find you all night." Roman says the moment Dre walks into the boy's apartment. Luke, Travis & Jay all turn their heads from their seats on the couch and give Roman a look.

"Man, why are you acting as if you married to the dude?" Jay says making Travis and Luke snigger. "Maybe we are. D, baby where were you last night?" Roman asks me in a high-pitched voice, batting his eyelashes at me. I give Roman a funny look which makes them all burst into laughter.

Roman is in tears, holding his stomach from laughter as I arch a brow at him, "yo, I'm just playing' we all know where yo were." The other three let out a chorus of dramatic 'ooohs' and I roll my eyes.

"Man, shut up," I open the fridge and taking out a can of Dr Pepper. "Oh, so you not denying it, huh?" Travis says wiggling his brows at me. I open the can, bringing it up to my lips. "Dude, when you gonna man up and ask her out? Even a blind person could see the way you look at her." Jay says throwing up a ball then catching it.

I lean on the counter with my elbows, placing the can of soda down on the kitchen island, "it's not that simple."

"What's not simple? Bruh, you just walk up to her and be like 'baby girl, you wanna ride?' " Travis says. Luke and Jay groan and throw cushions at him, the last one hitting him square on the face. "Man shut up this is why you ain't got no girlfriend," Lucas says shoving Travis's shoulder. Travis scowls at him, "oh? Tell me Mr. Big Shot, how's it going with Amaal?" He arches a brow at him. Four heads turn to him as Lucas grows silent, "I'm working on it." He mumbles. Travis rolls his eyes, "I'm working on it." He mocks.

"Okay, okay. Tom & Jerry." Jay narrows his eyes at them, "But for real dude when are you gonna ask her out? Do you need a wingman or something?" I sigh heavily, "it don't matter, relationships should be the last thing on my mind right now."

"It sounds to me like that's a never. " Roman says in a bland tone. Lucas interjects, "man, if you keep dragging your feet, someone else will do it quicker than you do." I shrug, faking indifference, knowing very well that should any guy ask her out, I'm gonna fuck him up.
