"Okay, so...I can't decide on the theme colours. I don't know whether I want white and gold or cream and gold." India says on Facetime with me.

"Lemme see the cream and gold," India flips her phone to show me the layout her wedding planner had for those colours. I nods even though she can't see me, "then the white and gold?" India moves to show me the other layout and I don't even need to think about it, "definitely the cream and gold."

"Right. Jason's mom wants the white, but I just couldn't tell her no so I told her I'd think about it." India says flipping the camera to face her again. With so much on her plate and in need of help, India stuck to her promise when she said she'd ask me to help her out with the wedding. "So, you good? Any tea you gotta spill?" India asks her, grinning widely at me. I shakes my head, "no, not really. . .oh, wait! Sasha's seeing someone." India's mouth drops, "no way! Who?"

"James, he's on the varsity's basketball team." India fans herself exaggeratedly, "oof, I remember them college days. The athletes are always hot property. I'm glad she's found someone though. I mean, she couldn't spend her whole life giving her pussy to random strangers." India says, putting the phone against something to stand upright.

"India!" I scold her. India gives me knowing a look, "c'mon, you know it's true. College is all about good sex. But what's the use when it's with strangers? So, what about you?" India asks, trying to steer the conversation in a different direction. I shake my head no.

"Nah, although I did reconnect with Devontae." India's dart from the table, with the menu up to the phone, "Wait, your close friend almost boyfriend from junior year?" I nod, twiddling my thumbs, "yeah, something like that."

"Wait, I know the that look. What's going on?" India narrows her eyes at me. I remain silent as my cousin stares at me intently. I look around purposely not looking at the phone, but I still feel her eyes burning through me. Until my resolve dissolves.

"Okay fine, I did kind of sort of sleep with him?" I say, twisting the rings on my finger nervously and India grins from ear to ear. "Oooh, you better start explaining." I delve into my explanation from the time of the party and them talking in the bathroom and kissing for the first time and then going home together.

"Woah, girl I seen him on the news and gurl ─," India says, wiggling her brows at me. I roll my eyes, "shut up." She waves me off, not thinking too much into what I said, "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Please tell me you're coming with him to the wedding."

"We're not dating, India." I say, matter of fact. "Maybe not now. How aren't you dating him anyway? Y'all be tripping'." India furrows her brows at her.

"It's not my call, India," I say, scratching my head. I make a mental note to remove the locks this week, I've had them on for about a month and a half now they need to go. "Of course, it is! You can just tell him that you like him. You'd be surprised at the outcome plus; guys love it when ladies make the first move." India claps her hands excitedly, "I gotta go, we're having the cake tasting then I'm going wedding dress shopping. Oh! By the way, I'm shipping your dress to you this weekend."

"Okay, bye." I wave. "Oh, and Kiki? Please bring him to the wedding."

"Goodbye, India."

"Love you, bye!" She waves into the phone, and I hang up. Guess she'll have to find out later that I had already asked Devontae to be my date.

...

The girls decided to tag along to the boy's practice and they looking like me when it was my first day there. None of them have blinked we arrived, and I honestly don't blame them.

"I think y'all got some drool on the corner of your mouths."

"Shut up," Cassie mumbles her eyes glued on one guy. "You can say that again," Amaal says her eyes zeroing in on Lucas. "Bitch, I have the right to look at my man like this," Just as that sentence leaves her mouth each guy looks in our direction and we simultaneously wave at them as nonchalantly as we can.

"Well, guess what came in mail." I say and pulls out my phone from my purse to show the girls the beautiful dress. The three girls hover over the electronic device and they squeal when they see the photo. "Oh my God! I'm afraid you'd look better than the bride in this." Sasha says still staring at the screen. "You lucky as fuck that India got good taste. If she had a bad taste like my aunt, I wouldn't have gone to the wedding, for real." Cassie says, scrunching up her face at the thought. She still gets the chills when she even thinks of it. We stand up when they see the basketball team dispersing to the locker rooms.

"Make sure you take many pictures, okay? I wanna see everything. And I mean everything." Cass says shaking my shoulders. "You could just be my plus one." I joke. "Yeah, no. My Abuela would kill me if I don't visit her this month especially since we are on a break." Cassie says running her hand through her recently blonde dyed hair. "Do you have a plus one?" Sasha asks curiously.

Before I can say anything, Sasha tuts shaking her head at me. "You can't be telling me that you going looking all smoking' hot and you ain't got someone to go with you." Sasha arches a brow at her. "Nah for real, I'm actually going...-" After changing into clean clothes, the guys join us, hugging all four of us in greeting. "What y'all talking about?" Travis asks them throwing his arm around Cassie. She looks him up and down before throwing his arm off her shoulder. He smirks at her, and she just rolls her eyes, folding her arms over her chest.

"Kiana has a wedding she has to attend in a few days but she ain't got no date."

The boy's heads turn to look at me, "If had let me finish, I would've told you that I'm actually going with Devontae." I splutter unable to handle the number of eyes on me now. Their heads turn to Devontae, and he shrugs, "Yeah, she asked me out." I narrow my eyes at him, "it is not a date." "Really?" Cassie looks between the both of us. I pinch the bridge of me nose, in agitation.

My family is highly inappropriate and extra, I'm more afraid of them meeting Devontae than him meeting them. Me bringing him along they'll assume we're together and it's just not worth it. Sasha waves me off, "oh, hush. I'm sure you guys will have fun on your non-date." I look at my friend with a bored look. I then press my lips tightly into a thin line. They all look at expectantly, "Agh, fine." I finally give in throwing my hands up in surrender.
